The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Liberty. The contact was driving approximately 2 mph when she attempted to make a turn and suddenly a loud noise emitted from outside of the vehicle. The contact stopped the vehicle in order to inspect it and noticed the fuel tank detached and was on the ground. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer and repaired. The technician stated both fuel tank straps were completely covered with rust. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,220. Updated 7/16/12 updated 07/18/12.
