Champion Chrysler-Jeep Inc safety recall F23 customer is very upset that after getting recall fixed that she had to pay out of pocket for the upper ball joints* the dealer stated the rear right seatbelt does not latch and the left right power window does not work. The consumer has provided the invoices for repair. Update
2003 Jeep Liberty had defective seat belts, both in the rear, coming apart at the exact same spot. The same day that contact had the Jeep in the shop another woman had the exact same problem with her Dodge SUV. Contacted chysler, who said they would cover the parts only if I paid the dealer over $100 in labor costs, which was unfair since it was a clear defect. The belts were basically unused.
Rear passenger side and driver side seat belts won't retract back into it's holster because the belts were unraveling. Dealership inspected the seat belts, but could not decide why this was happening because where the belts were unraveling they were not coming in contact with anything. Dealership might be able to cover the belt to correct the issue. If this was not possible the entire seat belt assembly has to be replaced.
Both rear seat belts were shredding after very little use and had to be replaced under warranty. It appears the plastic housing of the seat belt retractor is too sharp and the belt rubs against it when used causing damage.
