The horn membrane has failed and it will require the entire steering wheel airbag to be replaced or I am stuck with no horn. The horn should not be tied to the airbag. They want 1,500 dollars to replace the airbag with the horn. To date I am without a horn. Still no working horn which is an alerting device to other motorists
2002 Jeep Liberty...feels like and sounds like the whole front end is falling apart..and then I went to the post office and as I turned in the parking lot the Jeep made the worst noise..people started looking..it was really bad when I hit a bump or turned the steering wheel..my mechanic checked it out and said the ball joints had to be changed..and I think something is wrong with the steering....I know there has been a recall on ball joints and something to do with the steering.also my brother N law found a part laying loose in down in the motor..I am a senior citizen and I still work..and I need my Jeep checked..I am scared to drive it...pls let me know what to do...thanks..

Heat is not working it throws out cool/cold air. I have noticed that there have been many Liberty owners with the same complaint. It is a pain since I have two young children and the car is so cold you can see everyone's breath. I've had the radiator flushed and had a few things checked and still no heat. Over the summer I had the A/C fixed because it started throwing out hot air. This seems to be a common problem with this car and I'm surprised it has not been recalled. The car is driven on a daily basis in New Jersey. Car is mostly driven on city streets and ocasional highway. My Jeep was taken to the dealer for recalls, but looking for recalls to see if there was anything for the heat I noticed there was a recall for the control atms/bushings. I was never told about this recall and nothing was done at the dealer. Last month driving one of my bushings broke while I was driving and I lost a wheel.

Well where do I start. Since I have purchased this vehicle in may of 2016 I have replace multiple parts, but they weren't part of any recalls. But now my concern reviewing recalls for this vehicle and trying to address these numerous defects. I'm almost fed up. My main cover is the J17 recall for the upper control arm ball joint of which a Chrysler representative advideo my my vehicle was part of, which I clueless on how as the recall doesn't specify other than 2002 to 2003 Liberty vwhiles. Now I show that they were replaced in the past and now they since are worn in the same description they were recalled in. And Chrysler denies responsibility (?).. also other concerns with the catylic converter causing a sulfur smell when the vehicle is going up hill aso well as towing. One more thing is numerous online forum about the engine ticking being normal and unfixable other then to replace the engine. Now all this plus the multiple parts I have already replaced a vehicle less then 15 years on the market needed a in other words fully restoration is unacceptable. Especially when I have stock 1948 Jeep that need less repairs than this.
I received a recall notice, N46/NHTSA 13V-252. This involved the fuel tank which could result in a fire after a rear end collision. The fix was supposed to be a trailer hitch would be installed to provide protection for the rear mounted fuel tank. Also, I was supposed to receive a $100 visa card for my time and trouble in getting this done. After I took the car to the dealer, john hirsch in cambridge mn, they declined to install the trailer hitch, citing some rust under the car prevented them from doing so. The Jeep is a 14 year old Minnesota car and most will have some rust on the underbody. If they didn't intend to help alot of the older car owners, I feel my time was wasted and I still have a dangerous problem with the vehicle. Is this Chrysler's way of saving dollars on the recalls?
Carbone Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Ram refused to service my vehicles recall not once, and not twice, but three times. I dropped my car off at 8am on 02/13/16 for the recall repair and they brought it back to me at 5:30pm without any work done to the vehicle.
The relay flasher is bad. Part # 56010158ad. I have no right blinker/flasher. I have an order for a replacement for over 4 months now. Jeep is not making the part and has no idea when it will be replaced. No excuses - nothing. Just sorry. This is unacceptable. I am driving in high traffic without signals. There is not even a date when the part may be available. Its unacceptable really. Should something happen to me, who is responsible? I need my vehicle and its the only car I have. Jeep should be responsible for making parts to maintain their vehicles in timely fashion.
While trying to have the N46 recall dealt with in a timely fashion I have been getting the run around for months from sansone Jeep dealer in avenel, NJ I tried three times to make an appointment. The first time I was sent an email that they would contact me shortly, and never did. The second time they again sent me an email that they would contact me shortly, and did not contact me again attached is an email with their response showing this was back in March. Note in the email I asked if there was a problem with getting this done and still no response. Finally, after being there in person and getting an appointment for Nov 16th. I took off from work and lost a days pay in order to deal with this problem. After my car being there all day I went to pick it up just for them to tell me they looked at and will order the part. Why wasn't this part ordered a month ago when I made the appointment. I keep receiving notices about how important it is to have this fixed. But now I 'm not sure it is important enough to lose another day of work. Mr.[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).'
Wife was getting gas, went to start the vehicle and it would not start, battery is good, key turns on and everything powers up. Bench tested the starter and it is fine, it just wont start. Have checked online and there are several thousand owners with the same issue.
I keep my car parked in an enclosed garage when it is not being driven. One morning, I went into the garage to drive my car to work. I used my remote to open my car door. I then noticed that the backseat passenger window, immediately behind the driver side was rolled down. I know I had not rolled it down. I got in the car and pushed on the button to raise the window. The window rattled and groaned with an electrical sound. I looked at the window - it had not rolled up. I had to get to work, so I drove my car with the window in that shape. When I got to work I asked a co-worker to help me tape it up. So then, my window was manually pushed up by two people trying to push it up from the inside and the outside. Then tape was applied to the window to hold it up, but it started to slip down. So the person who was first helping put a piece of cardboard on the inside part of the window, saying that would prevent it from falling down. It worked for awhile, but then the cardboard slipped down into the window. So then, I found two bigger pieces of cardboard to hold it in the closed position and we taped some more. It is now taped up and so far is holding, but as rain may come, it will probably fall again. I called Jeep and asked how this could be repaired. They told me it would cost about $400. I don't have a spare $400 to spend on a car that has had a massive number of problems and has cost me thousands of dollars in repairs over the year. Then the next thing that happened was that the front driver-side hubcab disappeared - this is never ending trouble with this car. The car has been a problem from the beginning. I told Jeep early on - they would do nothing to help or exchange it for a car without problems. This vehicle is terrible, and the dealership is even worse.
Have tried for 3 weeks to have my Jeep fixed because of the recall. I entered 10/1/2014 as the incident date but do not remember the first time I went to [xxx]. [xxx] muncie Indiana keeps telling me no parts or I am on the list. Asked them where my name is on the list they say they can't tell me that. Have called and even went in person to the service department nothing. They seem to be giving me the run around. Can you help"?" called them 10/23/2014 told me to check back in 2 weeks. Driver side break light does not work only when headlights are on. I have replaced the light, fuse, the whole housing unit and it will work for one day than stop again. Also airbag light is now on all the time after getting the M35 recall done on my car. Dealer ship seems to think it ia nothing that they did wrong and now I gotta pay at least $135 to get a diagnostics done on my car to see what is wrong. Also seatbelt light never stays on any more even if my seatbelt ia not on ut just comes on when I turn car on then goes off when airbag light comes on.

The headlights turn off for up to 2 seconds while I am driving. The pattern seems to occur at all different speeds and may or may not be associated with using the turning signals or the act of turning. I tried replacing the headlight relay, and that did not fix the problem. It seems to be getting worse, and I worry that it will get so bad I will not be able to drive at night. I currently suspect a problem with the multifunction switch or simply a loose wire somewhere. On one occasion, my interior lights turned on while I was driving on the expressway at night and not touching the multifunction stalk at all-not sure if that is related, and again, it only happened once. This is a safety hazard and a hassle. I'm constantly worried that I will be pulled over for flashing my headlights or that I'll be driving blind when an animal runs out in front of me.
Key would not turn on car. Opened up steering column to find small rod that pushes button on ignition was broken. Jeep dealership says cannot replace rod has to replace entire steering column.
I am experiencing a rattling sound when driving uphill or downhill through driveway, traveling 5-20 miles an hour. I took my Jeep 2002 Liberty 2wd to get serviced and received recommended repairs: Prosteer control arm with ball joint upper center, remove and install propeller shaft to replace universal joints on both ends, rear wheel bearings, tail pipe is welded to muffler, muffler does not meet design specifications and should be replaced due to exhaust leak as well, remove rack and pinion, complete rack as does not meet design specifications and is leaking. I was driving about 25 mph and my rear right side tire was smoking profusely. I pulled over and noticed the gray smoke from my tire. I took the car to check the rear breaks. They were fine but was told that I had a leak from the exhaust pipe which dripped on to that area. The car has 75,806 miles. I was told that I could loose control of vehicle and entire area can collapse during traffic due to these issues. Aside from these issues, I am experiencing a whistling sound, problems with rear drivers side passenger power window regulator which produces grind-like sound. The window came off and I was told that I needed a new regulator for the window. I'm also experiencing a red stain in engine oil drippage on ground. Finally, strange odor from car -odor continues to be present whether I wash the carpets and seats (smells like mold/mildew or skunk).
