Shortly after getting my new Grand Cherokee I started noticing a shake/shudder when accelerating from a stop that would occur just as it shifted from 1st to 2nd. At first I thought it was just rough road or the software adjusting since the car was still new. The problem was very intermittent and only occurred if the trans temp was above 165. Sometimes it was a very subtle shake and other times very rough.
After the first trip to the dealer at about 3k miles I was told nothing was wrong and they were not able to recreate the issue. I took it back in again for its first oil change and had them look at it again at 6000 mi. This time I was told it would need a new valve body and it is currently awaiting the part. This is definitely not something that should be occurring with a brand new car. I have read on some forums that others have had the same issue with the new Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L. Hopefully this new valve body will fix the issue but from what I have read it did not solve it for everyone.
Update from Jul 18, 2022: The dealer installed a new valve body but the mechanic and shop foreman were not satisfied with the way it was shifting. They are going to replace the transmission.
