2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit-fully loaded, great riding vehicle... when working!!! Traded my disastrous 2011 with hope for a better built vehicle. I am not sure if I found it. Just recently three members of my family tried to move it. Every time they shifted transmission to "D" it would automatically move to "P" by itself!
Two hours later, towing man was able to DRIVE it on the flat bad. Very worrisome since we occasionally tow one horse trailer with this vehicle. Being unable to drive back or get stranded somewhere on the highway would be a great danger to the animal and other motorists! We have set up a diagnostic appointment with Umansky Jeep in Charlottesville. Not holding my breath since they weren't very helpful in the past.
This transmission is not very user friendly. I have to double check what gear am I on! Chrysler/Jeep must know it by now, yet no recall/repair solution has been issued. Shame!
Update from Jan 14, 2025: Transmission shifts from "D" to "P" on its own! Theengine light is in. Brought it to Chrysler of Culpeper, kept the cat for almost a month and failed to diagnose it ( mechanis were sick , too many emergencies etc. Sh*tty dealership that doesn't help sh*tty vehicles). Bringing the SUV to Flow Jeep in Charlottesville but not having my hopes high! Unfortunately, we just put four expensive tires on it, otherwise I would trade it in fora new Lexus or diesel Chevy.
Chrysler must know about the problem but chooses to ignore it! I think they should replace this transmission!
