Still the problem is not solved - the agent says that this is normal to reduce the fuel consumption of the car. Unfortunately no rules to protect consumers in Bahrain.

Brought the car in for U65 Safety Recall (Reprogram Powertrain control module on 12/6/19. Car was running perfectly prior to this service. Brought back on 1/22/2020 for T59 Safety Recall ( Brake booster water shield).

9 days later (1/31/2020) the transmission starts shifting hard and within a few miles, completely fails to operate. Dash flashes "Shifter already in desired gear" but adjustments to shifter resulted in no changes to gear. The car would not power off.

After 5 days of sitting at the dealership, they diagnosed as a dead battery... So we paid $375 to replace the battery ... for a transmission / shifter issue.

Had the terrible recall on the gear shift to be "reprogrammed". Had been putting this off and finally got a time that worked with my schedule to drop my car off for an oil change and have the recall fixed. Drove my car home, and had it sit in the garage over the weekend. Come Monday morning, I put my luggage in the trunk, the automatic open and close worked, the highlights turned on and the internal lights turned on. I try to start my car and it doesn't turn over. Tried jumping the car twice, doesn't turn on... call the dealership, they tell me to use my car FOB key and press the push start, doesn't work. Meanwhile, the radio is working, and the windows go up and down, etc... Call the dealer again, they don't get back to me. Physically go to the dealership and they call a towing company to come pick my car up and give me a rental. Meanwhile, the tow truck guy comes, can't get the car to shift into neutral. Tries to jump my battery again, with no luck. Then I call the dealer to send out a technician to get the car in neutral, they tell me to take apart my center console so I can manually put the car in neutral. I ask if I take it apart and damage it, will they fix it. They tell me no. So I refuse, try to start my car again and my dashboard tells me that my "gear shift needs service", then the windshield wipers start going, and the dials (ie- coolant, gas) start going up and down repeatedly. Try to turn the car off and it tells me that the car ignition is on, but is not in the desired park gear. Try putting the car in park, still no luck. Meanwhile, wipers are still going, and dashboard is blinking. Tow truck driver has to drag my car out onto the flat bed. Get a call the next day from the dearer stating that my battery was completely dead and that they've charged it and my car works fine now. The battery was NOT the problem. I've never had a problem with my Jeep until I brought it back in for the recall, and the recall reprogramming was faulty and has now messed my car up. Jeep needs to get their act together!!!!!!!!!

Update from Nov 23, 2016: Oh yea, the dealer also tried to tell me that the battery was dead because I left the "map light" on... I know for a fact before I left, I made sure that all my lights were off and that I locked my car since I would not be driving it and would be out of town. Nice try...

Following the safety recall to automatically put the vehicle in Park if you open the door, funny things are now happening.

Blue screen is one. keyless entry delays another. Radio stays on when engine off and car locked.

When on the phone and getting out of the car, both radio and phone are on speaker. The electric engine fan comes on intermittently sometimes after a 200m run. It was fine before the recall and after three attempts is the same despite being advised that "Its all fixed"

The dealer John Hughes; cant event tell me what was included in the software patch

Jeep Recall Saga Continues

We have a 2015 jeep Grand Cherokee and recently had the software patch installed that was supposed to prevent the car from moving when the driver’s door is open. The condition that killed the actor recently. Since the patch was installed there is an intermittent problem. When one gets in the vehicle and you attempt to open the hatchback either from the driver’s seat or from the tailgate it won’t open. In addition once you start the vehicle the center console screen is completely black, and the front side windows won’t work (the rear seat ones do). You have to place the car in gear and move it before all these features start working.

The other problem is the whole purpose of the software patch was prevent the vehicle from moving if the driver’s door is open and it is in gear. They got that half right. The car won’t move forward with the door open, but it goes in reverse it moves just fine. Just exactly the situation that killed the actor.

We took the car into the dealership to correct the problem with the patch. They reinstalled the software patch but nothing is changed. Obviously the patch is crap. If you have a Jeep Cherokee and are thinking of taking it in for the recall I don’t recommend it. You’ll drive away with more problems than you went in with.
