CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee shows an early trend of transmission complaints. Most of the complaints are for rough shifting — things like jerking & hesitation when shifting gears.
The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee also has the same transmission issues.
Noticing steering wheel vibration on highway over 65mph. Car has 14000 miles. Took car to have service to have tires road force balanced. Took car to another tire expert and paid for road force balance again, both came back showing tires in perfect balance scoring very low road force numbers. Took car to dealer and was told that this is normal for my car. They also road force balanced the tires. They said they drove another Jeep and felt the same issue. $52,000 car with steering wheel vibration🙉
During my first trip onto the highway with my new GC I felt a vibration and noticed the steering wheel shake at around 65 MPH. I took it back to the dealership and the service facility put 80 miles on it testing the issue just to come to the conclusion this way a normal characteristic of the vehicle and they cannot fix it. Surely a vibration and noticeable shake in the steering wheel is not normal for any new well built vehicle.
After about 5500 miles I started to notice vibration, shimmy and sensitivity to bumps in steering, at 6700 miles took into dealership had wheels rotated thinking that would solve it. About 2 weeks later took back to dealership to address issue again since rotation didn't solve problem. They test drove vehicle apparently couldn't duplicate, but said wheels were out of balance and so they balanced all four wheels under warranty.
Vehicle still exhibits vibration, shimmy and sensitivity to bumps though steering wheel. Current mileage is 8700 and I'm ready to take car into dealership for the third time. This is unacceptable for a new car costing 40,000 plus.
Update from May 7, 2015: Jeep did have a service bulletin for 2014 referencing these issues, but not for 2015, also if Jeep would take the time to research forums like" jeepgarage.com" they would see this issue is still affecting Jeep owners
Update from May 19, 2015: Vehicle was taking into dealership on Friday the 15th and left all day, they checked all steering ,suspension components and wheel balance. They claim everything was within spec and couldn't duplicate, but steering wheel will react to bumps. Vehicle still has steering wheel vibration/shake at speeds over 60 does not do this every-time.
I believe wheels could be slightly out of balance, or like many talk about on forums it's the Goodyear tires which do not stay balance correctly. Unless dealership can figure this out I won't be buying another Jeep wish I look though forums in more detail.
