Driver side seat belt does not retract and is not secure. When I called the dealership The service person said there is no open recalls it-??s my responsibility to have it fixed. There are several 2015 jeep grand Cherokee-??s on here with the same problem. Jeep need to take responsibility and fix it! Click it or ticket is the catchphrase here in Florida. Jeep needs to fix it so I can click it!
Both my driver and passenger seat belts are not retracting as they should. Seat belts are really loose and puts my life at risk every time I drive my vehicle. I did take my jeep to my local auto shop and they quoted me over $1400 to get both seat belt retractors and assembly replaced. In my opinion, its something that should be replaced without cost due to manufacturing malfunction. I have not had my vehicle inspected by the manufacturer or insurance. There was no warning lamps or messages prior to failure. I bought my jeep pre owned and have only has it for 2 years. This is not a -??wear and tear-?? situation.
I lost control of my 2015 jeep grand cherokee Laredo and crashed head on into a utility pole. The airbags did not deploy and my seat belt did not lock up on. I was traveling about 40mph at the time. The lack of restraint from the seat belt and no airbag sent me smashing into the steering wheel. No warning lights telling me something was wrong with airbag.
My seatbelts won't retract due to cracked plastic on the D ring. Dealer says this is a known issue but it's been since November and they say it's on backorder.

The front passenger seat belt malfunctioned; it does not retract and is stuck in one set position that can not be used by a passenger. Not having a working seatbelt in the front passenger seat is a significant risk to anyone that is a passenger in the front passenger seat. This problem has been inspected and confirmed by the dealer (North Olmsted Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram located in North Olmsted Ohio), but not by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. After the dealer inspected the seat belt, they confirmed the seat belt is covered under an "extended warranty", which may suggest this is a well known problem with the vehicle. This inspection by the dealer was completed on November 24, 2021 and the seat belt still has not been fixed by the dealer. It has been nearly three months that I have not had a working seatbelt in my vehicle due to the dealers inability to fix the problem, and luckily no one has been seriously injured or killed in that time.
In December 2021, the B-pillar mounted D-ring cracked in my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee causing the passenger seat belt to not retract. The cracked D-ring prevented the proper retraction of the seat belt so that it would not fit snugly and securely around the passenger. Research showed that NHTSA initiated a Preliminary Evaluation about such occurrences in the 2013-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokees with Fiat Chrysler Automobile US LLC in September 2019. I have ordered a part from the Jeep dealership and am awaiting its arrival so that the dealership can perform the necessary repair.
The seat belt retractor on the passenger side stopped working completely several months ago and the drivers side is not working correctly. The vehicle is basically unsafe to drive. We have been told that this issue is part of a warranty extension solution that was approved by your organization...instead of an actual recall. We have been waiting for months to have it repaired, but Chrysler reports they cannot get the part because of supply chain issues. We feel that Chrysler should pay to have it repaired with another seat belt retractor (not the one that has been on back order for months) so that can have a safe vehicle to drive. We have found the part locally..but have been told the warranty will not be honored because it is not the part that Chrysler approved for the repair. Please help us resolve this. I have filed an official complaint with Chrysler (reference number 81226409) but have received no response. Thank-you in advance for any assistance you can provide.
Passenger and driver side front seat seat belt fail to retract once extended, resulting in excess seat belt material across the body, and thus possibility of a delayed or insufficient tensioner reaction in an event. Vehicle is subject to a warranty extension for a similar concern (slow retraction), but after inspection by an authorized dealership, it was determined that the seat belts upper D-ring does not exhibit the damage that the warranty extension was released for. However, upon inspection it was found that other plastic routing components on the seat belt have begun to crack, fail, and separate. As this other damage was not specifically addressed in the warranty extension, no coverage for this defect applies.
The driver side seat belt does not retract back to position. When parked and exiting the vehicle the seat belt hangs and gets caught in the door. This has to be a safety issue with the seat belt fitting so loose because it no longer retracts.
Within the same month period of time both passenger and driver side seat belts are now completely failing to retract. Earlier this year they started retracting more slowly but now will not retract at all making the seat belts essentially useless. I've taken this vehicle to the local dealer who reports the retraction assembly needs to be replaced on both sides. The vehicle is going on 6 years old with limited use on the passenger side. The dealer quoted me $1200 to replace both sides. This is a very expensive repair to be doing every 5-6 years. Safety equipment should be more reliable and durable than 6 years.
The seat rest popped opened and it cannot be pushed backed together. I was parked at the time when the incident occurred. Both seat belt locks do not open properly without pushing down the buckle into the lock while pressing on the release button at the same time. This has been ongoing for a couple of years.
The driver seat belt will not retract, it stopped working for no reason.. took it to the dealership and was told it will cost over $500 to repair. I do not have that kind of money to repair it, the car is not safe to drive, this car is only 5 years old. I have read numerous other complaints about this same problem.
At all times, the drivers side seat belt will not retract. Very unsafe! the belt has to much slack after I have clicked it in place. I have tried washing/cleaning the belt with no improvement. Dealership states it will cost me $500-$750, and that my warranty will not cover the cost!
The front two seat belts in my vehicle do not retract back to their original position. This is at all times, only solution is to feed the belt back into the retractor by hand to let it reel in. Dealer said there is no recall for this issue.
The front passenger seatbelt will not retract, therefore it will not lock into place. We are unable to have a front passenger because of this safety issue. We have tried to get it to retract while in park or drive, also with the Jeep turned off.
The seat best tensioners on both front seat belts have cracked. The drivers side seat belt will not retract to keep driver secure. The vehicle has an extended warranty but the repairs for this issue are not covered. The repairs will cost $750 in parts in addition to labor. From searching online I see many other people having the same problem. This should be a safety recall.
