The HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) on this vehicle fails causing a fuel lapse and loss of power. I have taken it to two different dealers and they say the HPFP is on recall but not available. The vehicle was available for inspection but neither dealer performed this. When the HPFP fails the engine light comes on and the electronic throttle control light comes on. This started in September of 2023 and has repeated several times. The recall for the HPFP has been announced for quite awhile but nothing has been done about it.

While returning home from vacation, the high pressure fuel pump on my vehicle failed. This happened while in heavy traffic traveling 70mph on I-95. This incident left myself, my husband, and my four month old infant at the time stranded on the I-95 shoulder in 90 degree heat for three hours. My husband was barely able to maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder after all power was lost and the car was billowing smoke. The problem was confirmed by the dealer. The dealer inspected and replaced the high pressure fuel pump and other fuel system components four months later but failed to inspect other engine components for damage related to the high pressure fuel pump failing. Because of the lack of thorough inspection, when the service person at the dealer started the engine again, the engine completely failed. The dealer and Jeep are refusing to honor the recall and repair my engine due to a recalled item failing. Prior to the high pressure fuel pump imploding and ripping shrapnel through the entire fuel system and engine, a yellow check engine light came on. While trying to find a safe place to pull over while traveling 70mph in heavy traffic on I-95, diesel began pouring out of the bottom of the vehicle, smoke started billowing out of the engine, a handful of warning lights flashed across the screen, and all power was lost to the car. This happened in less than approximately 5mins/10miles from the yellow check engine light initially appearing. Prior to this incident, there were no sounds or warning signs that there was something internally wrong with the engine.
My issue is with the Manufacture Recall #Z46, NHTSA Recall # 22V-406. This recall has been open since Jun 9, 2022 and involves the Fuel Pump (HPFP) failure. I have taken the vehicle to my local dealer and they advised there still is no remedy available to correct this recall. The vehicle I purchased used, had several open service tickets related to emissions which have been corrected and covered but this safety recall seems to be ignored by the manufacturer and could in fact cause a accident if it fails. The recall covers more than my vehicle and for the sake of my family and I would like it repaired before something happens. I feel the manufacturer has let this issue drop in hopes it will go away. I would like the NHTSA to follow-up on this recall and require them to fix the issue. Thank you.
I received a recall notice from Chrysler (Recall #Z46) on June 9, 2022. The NHTSA recall number is #22V-406. I also recently received another recall from Chrysler (Recall #66A). The NHTSA recall number for this recall is #23V-411. Both recalls indicate that failure of the defective part that has been recalled can result in the unexpected loss of power and a resulting crash without warning. Any resulting crash without warning presents a huge safety concern as it quite possibly could result in injury or death. To date I'm told the part for recall # Z46 is not available and the dealer will not repair Recall #66A until Recall #Z46 has been remedied. In light of the potential for injury or death resulting from the failure of the necessary repairs request that the NHTSA become proactive in forcing the manufacturer to remedy the problem(s) noted above ASAP.
22V-406 Recall issued June 9 2022. We-??ve tried to have fixed but parts unavailable. At what point is this untimely? It has been over a year which seems untimely to me. The safety issue indicates high pressure fuel pump ("HPFP") that could fail prematurely. A HPFP failure may introduce internally failed component debris into the fuel system potentially causing fuel starvation. Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can cause a vehicle to crash without prior warning.
As part of the Jeep Recall Z46 my vehicle is currently dead and sitting at the dealership. Dealership quoted over $15k to replace the entire fuel system. They said I can pay out of pocket to replace the entire fuel system however to claim under the recall they don-??t have a remedy nor any new parts to replace the failed component along with replacing the rest of the fuel system from the metal contamination. Service advisor provided a corporate Chrysler contact number to escalate to a Chrysler case manager. After creating the case order I was told the case manager would be contacting me within 24 hours. So far it-??s been about 5 days and attempting to call I get sent to a voicemail box that-??s full.
I had a warning code of service electronic throttle. It then started to regenerate and we took it to Lithia Jeep to fix EGR recall. They needed to replace engine intake because it caught fire. Several months later the car broke down while driving, sputtering, knocking, squealing. Upon inspection, metal flakes found in oil. Suspected HPFP sucked into engine causing havoc. The HPFP is an open recall but no available replacement parts. I'm currently out of a vehicle. I've contacted Jeep but haven't heard a reply
FCA has had an open recall (Z46/NHTSA 22V-406) for over 14 months. They are unable to provide necessary parts and as such potentially unsafe vehicles must be driven by owner and these vehicles are unable to be traded/sold due to open safety recall. FCS Recall Assistance and Chrysler Group Customer Care for Jeep have been contacted with no resolution and no anticipated date for resolution.

I have had major problems with my vehicle relating to recalls. Last month had had $2,800 in repairs done to the vehicle related to two recalls (Z46 & W79) I had to have all of my fuel lines and fuel filters replaced and the air intake manifold replaced and currently the vehicle is not running as I lost power entering the highway my mechanice diagnosed it as code P0336-00 crankshaft position sensor performance which is covered under recall W58/68 to date Jeep has denied that any of this work is related to recalls and denied my reimbursement request I appreciate your help in resolving these issues as I currently do not have transportation at my disposal even thought recall W58/68 states that transportation to be provided if needed I can supply you with receipts and emails from fca Jeep denying my claims thanking you in advance for your help in this matter
