The contact manually pushed the liftgate into the latch to ensure the liftgate was closed. Recently, the contact stated that the liftgate inadvertently slammed closed while opened. The contact stated that the liftgate failed to close securely despite using excessive force. The contact stated that moisture was entering the vehicle due to the failure. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
