From what I read there are many complaints and Jeep is pretty much ignoring the issue.

Chrysler needs to do a recall on the Oil Filter Housing on 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. By searching the internet, this appears to be a common problem.

Had Injector manifold replaced under warranty as this was one of the years the antipolution arrangement was gumming up intake valves. They were near stuck. No leak there and no leak at oil filter. Leak is at front of engine and oil pan gasket? Will see if covered due to extended Jeep Diesel Warranty due to lawsuit.

Notice a "hot" smell coming from Jeep, none of my temps were showing high on the Jeep. Finally my husband crawled under her and noticed she was leaking oil again!!!! The mechanic put a camera up in it and when he started her up you can see the oil just pouring out of the oil filter housing again!!! 2nd time around!!! Just fixed this back in January for $620!! Granted I thought maybe it was a crappy part because it was an after market part. I let the mechanic get the part through his people so this time, the part and labor will be covered under warranty for a year! $560 more dollars to fix the same problem! Fast forward to 4/23/2020 I get in my Jeep to run errand and my check engine light is on! Took it to Auto Zone and they hooked this nifty thingy up t it and it tells me it is my Oil Sensor. Call my mechanic and he said it will be covered cause it is on the part. So my Jeep goes back in the shop next Wednesday! Too her out today to get groceries and guess what???? She is leaking oil again!!!!!!!!!!! I have googled this and it seems to be a common issue with Jeeps, why the heck is this not a recall!! I am TICKED!!!!!

Took my Jeep to get an oil change at my local Jeep dealer and was told I had a cracked oil filter housing and would be $1200 to get fix it! I ended up buying the part online through Amazon an after market part and having another mechanic fix it for $620. He showed me where the housing was cracked when I picked my Jeep back up. This just recently happened again, I will be making another complaint on here!

Failure Date: 17/05/2019

My name is Michael from Namibia, Southern Africa, I own a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee I took my vehicle for oil change 2 months ago at 75,000 at a Jeep/Chrysler dealer in Windhoek as were I live there is no Jeep Dealership, I took a trip out of town in mid April 2019 and came back on the 3rd May 2019.

I noticed a large oil puddle on my drive way under my car after checking under the car I noticed that there was oil leak and spilled all over the belly of the car close to the exhaust tail pipe, my suspicions where that since the vehicle went in for an oil change 2 months ago there could be a bolt that was not well tightened and could be causing the oil leakage, I immediately called the dealership in Windhoek close to 1000km away from where I am Katima Mulilo, who advised that we need to have the vehicle towed from where I am and he seem to be aware of the problem, but since he wanted to be absolutely sure of the issue he advised to go to a local repair shop for them to have a look, but they should not work on the vehicle, after they had a closer look they could not really determine where the leak was coming from as the oil was leaking at the bottom of the engine.

I called the dealer again who advised to park the car as he arrange with the main dealership in South Africa whom they report to, to have the car towed to Windhoek, Namibia for repairers. I took out time to google the oil leak issue and surprisingly there has been similar issues reported by Jeep Grand Cherokee owners who claim that an Oil filter adapter made of plastic leaks after a while and will need replacing, i hope this is not the case with my car but sadly all the signs indicate that it seems to be the same fault as other owners who put their complaints on this platform.

I really hope that this doesn't come with a cost as this is a Jeep design flaw and should immediately recall all this models with such issues before something tragic happens to Jeep's loyal customers.

Will keep you updated waiting for the dealership to come back to me on this urgent matter.

- Michael H., Katima Mulilo, Namibia
