If the Jeep has been sitting out in the heat I have to try starting it twice for it to actually start up. The first couple of times I was far away from home and really upset/nervous about it not starting, but now it's a consistent problem where I know it will start on the second attempt. However I am still nervous one day it will fail to start, resulting in more costly repairs.

So, I just had my jeep in for regular service, and a recall. I got my jeep back and drove home, 45 miles. I shut my jeep off, realized I needed to go to the store, jumped back in the jeep and it won't start. The brake feels hard as a rock. There's no play in it at all. When I push the ignition button, it sounds like it's stuck in the cranking mode for about 20 seconds. This went on for about 45 minutes. I call the dealership and they tell me they've never heard of this. The jeep finally started on its own. Has anyone else had this happen?

Update from Nov 5, 2017: I drove to town 45 miles and ran a couple errands. Jumped in the jeep to go home, the same exact thing happened with my jeep again. The brake is hard as a rock, the ignition sounds like it's stuck. I call the dealership they tell me to find someone to give me a jump. Seriously, there's lights and bells indicators going off everywhere. It's quite obvious it's got power. Took about 45 minutes of cranking and it finally starts. I drive home, shut it off, try to turn it right back on, the same thing happens AGAIN!!!!!!

Update from Nov 5, 2017: 11/3/2017 drove to town and the same exact thing with my jeep again!!!! This is so frustrating!!!! I'm taking it back to the dealership tomorrow

Update from Nov 5, 2017: 11/4/2017 took my jeep to dealership. They said they would figure it out. I get a call saying the battery needs replaced. So $400 later I drive home 45 miles, shut the jeep off, and it does the SAME EXACT THING!!!!!! Someone please tell me what to do??? I'm so beyond frustrated and the dealership is horrible in trying to help!

First happened to me around/under 1000kms. Dealership has not helped. I have a 2014 Overland GC. Paid top dollar for it and it is really a piece of unreliable junk. I was told, among many other things, to 'keep your foot on the brake when trying to start your Jeep'...I have been driving auto transmission for ages, it is pretty much embedded in my soul to do that, but that kind of support has made me feel like Jeep/Chrysler will not own up to the problem. I have had it towed multiple times to the dealership, and I have been told "we don't see the key fob problem, car is running fine"...Umm, the dealership must think that I enjoy getting stranded and my car towed. Will never buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee again. I still have my JK Wrangler, 2012 - but Chrysler - shame on you.

Grand Cherokee Limited V6

I started having problems in less than a year of ownership on my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. On 8/19/14 I got in the car, it idles but it will not start. I towed it to Midway Jeep and Chrysler in San Diego. The car was worked on and running but I was told they were going to be ordering a part called TIPM which is part of the recall. "The receipt states "no codes present, voltage at fuel pump is good, found internal failure in TIPM" I brought it back for the same issue on 9/4/14 for the TIPM replacement. On 8/23 it happened again, the car will idle but it will not start. I had it towed once again to the same dealer. when the car was dismounted off the tow truck, I tried to restart it again and it did start since it was a Saturday afternoon and service was closed I took it home.

Update from Feb 27, 2015: On 12/17/14 I experienced the same problem again. I get in the car, it idles but it will not start. The dealer stated that they had done all they could do and they were contacting Chrysler. This time I filed a complaint with Chrysler and was assigned a case manager. The case manager was apologetic and asked me to allow them to replace the TIPM part one more time. At this time the car mileage 15,932. The part was changed and the car was returned to me. A maintenance package was thrown in for my troubles and missed work hours.

Update from Feb 27, 2015: It is now 2/27/15 and this problem just happened again. Once again I had it towed to the same dealer. This car is a lemon. Once again, I will be contacting the case manager. Any other ideas?
