Unbelievable! Bought this truck for $14k used with 120,000 on it. Multiple issues including shift hesitation from 1st to 2nd gear after being off for7+hrs.
The biggest problem was, one morning I go to start my jeep and the entire dash was off, no signals,no horn, nothing worked! No brake lights! Took it to the best electrical diagnostic in the city and the problem was-
ABS module caused a short circuit which fries the TIPM. Even if you fix the TIPM without fixing the ABS module you will damage it again. I notice the problem while reversing out of my driveway in the morning, the ABS would kick in and my brake pedal would kick back twice and then the problem would go away. It lasted for 1 month then the TIPM went out completely! Would cost about $2500 for entire problem to be fixed and many owners said that it damaged again. Jeeps are not what they used to be. Shame on Chrysler. Jeep leaked engine oil, steering fluid, then the Electrical problems! I traded it in for a Honda civic.... Never again will I buy anything Chrysler! I'm FLAMING mad! Grrr! I drove a 1996 Jeep GC v8 from 100,000 to 250,000 without ever fixing anything except for a fallen muffler and regular part replacement such as brakes , shocks,etc... NEVER would I have thought such a stupid electrical problem would disable my brake lights and signals. I could have lived without the entire dash but the brake lights were a deal breaker. Stay away from jeeps unless you are leasing or have a bumper to bumper warranty. Thank you car complaints.com for allowing me to get this off my chest.
