Extensive rust and corrosion underneath vehicle. I bought my Jeep Grand Cherokee Brand New and expected a Brand New car not to come with such a ridiculous amount of rust and corrosion underneath. The rust /corrosion extends to all drive shafts, universal shafts, bolts, engine, transmission, differential, brake lines, exhaust, heat deflectors, chassis parts and much more.
My local Hunter Valley Jeep dealer have wiped their hands of it and say its Jeep Australia's issue.(weak). Jeep Australia want to chemically clean underneath with Rust Buster and Rust Converter , as a solution to this problem. This is considered to be rectification work resulting in "acceptable repair" (words from Jeep Australia Rep.). This is not acceptable for a New vehicle. This situation with the Hunter Valley Jeep dealer and Jeep Australia has been going on since 13th April 2015.
I believe it is not possible to remove the corrosion/rust to bring the affected parts back to a brand new vehicle standard. I also hold serious concerns that the suggested chemical removal of rust/corrosion will result in further damage to my vehicle with ingress of water and chemicals penetrating past seals into bearings, suspension parts and electrical components that may affect it long term.
Everyone,Please,Please check underneath your new jeep BEFORE taking ownership.Make your dealer put it up on their hoist and have engine/transmission covers etc removed so you can inspect everything. If not, you're in for a hell of a fight which is what I'm going through now. I will keep you updated with progress
