Passenger front seat active headrest (ahr) deployed due to plastic clip fatigue. The vehicle has never been involved in an accident and was parked in my home garage when the ahr deployed. The plastic clips/tabs holding the ahr from popping out broke off and landed in the front passenger seat. This is a very dangerous issue as if it happens to the driver expectantly this could result in a severe accident. Jeep is aware of this issue and is doing nothing.

My family was driving down the road at approximately 50mph on a 4 lane city street. I was sitting in the passenger seat speaking to my son in the back seat when I was abruptly hit in the side of the face with the seat. We had no idea what happened until my son said the seat blew up. We stopped and got out of the car to see that the headrest had deployed somehow.

Front passenger headrest active safety device faiilure. Front headrests have active device that are designed to trigger in a rearend collision. Headrest is designed to release/ spring forward to help prevent neck injuries when vehicle is struck from the rear. Internal mechanism has failed plastic supports within are broken headrest cannot be reset thus active safety function cannot function. Headrest is stuck in the forward or triggered position. My local Jeep dealer milton ruben nor Jeep customer service will work with me on the cost of repair. Dealer quoted $755+ to replace. Note: There are reports of same issue when searched on the internet. Failure of this device could cause an accident if failure happened while driving. It is my opinion that Jeep should cover or at least cover some of the cost of replacement.

Front passenger seat squeaks excessively. Dealership said the (metal) set track is somehow worn down causing the seat not to sit firmly in the track. This play between the set track and seat is what is causing the squeaking. They advised me on replacing the entire seat track assembly. How could a seat that does not properly sit in the track not a safety concern if an accident occurs? also, how does the metal seat track get that worn on a fairly new vehicle that barley gets used (front passenger)?

Front passenger active head restraint deployed spontaneously overnight with car parked in driveway. Weather was cool, there was no impact to any part of the car, no airbags deployed, the driver side head restraint did not deploy. Broken plastic hooks in the deployed headrest made it impossible to reset the deployed headrest. If this spontaneous deployment had happened while the car was being driven it would clearly have caused a dangerous distraction. If the driver side headrest deploys spontaneously while the car is being driven it would cause a very dangerous distraction and possibly injury to the driver most likely resulting in an accident or collision. I have researched this situation on the internet and I have identified multiple similar spontaneous deployments due to material fatigue reported on forums, with no effort by Fiat Chrysler to remediate the problem. My local Jeep dealer refuses to replace the headrest as my Jeep is out of warranty. In my opinion, this represents a design flaw in the active headrest that could result in injury or death if the deployment were to happen while the car is being driven.

I was coming to a gradual stop at a traffic light on a local road when the active head restraint seemingly deployed. I was not in a collision and there was no reason for it to deploy. Upon examining the mechanism it was not triggered, rather it failed because the plastic clips that held onto the latch had broken off internally causing the headrest to hit me violently in the back of the head. This could have been far worse had I not been almost at a complete stop.

I was parked in my driveway (as I just got home from work) talking to my daughter and her father (who were parked to my drivers side getting ready to leave in another vehicle) when we all heard a loud noise and something hit the side of my head very hard. The activated head rest shot open for no reason at all. The car was in park and nobody was in the vehicle except for me.there was no impact or anyone touching the outside of the vehicle either. I am fortunate that I was not driving at the time this happened as this could have caused an accident with the impact of the headrest hitting my head.

Active headrest on passenger headrest deployed without cause. The vehicle has never been involved in any accident and only noticed the headrest had become loose. When I took it to the dealership they'd indicated that the active headrest had deployed. After opening a case with Jeep Chrysler they have refused to correct it. There are a large number of cases for this exact same issue which poses a huge safety risk. Dealership is requesting over $800 to repair what is an obvious defect with the number of others that have experienced the exact same problem.

Vehicle is equipped with 'active headrests' which are intended to deploy in event of collision. Front passenger headrest malfunctioned and deployed while driving and unoccupied. Front passenger seat is rarely occupied and vehicle has never been in a collision. The internal components of the headrest are broken and it cannot be reset. Chrysler has refused to offer assistance for this important safety component given that the vehicle is out of warranty. Given that this is a safety item that I should be able to depend on, the fact that the front seat is rarely occupied and therefore been subjected to minimal wear and tear and that my research finds this to be an ongoing issue with Jeep vehicles equipped with this feature, it appears that this is an issue that needs to be addressed immediately.

I got in my car one evening and noticed the passenger side active head restraint was popped open. Apparently this happened while the car was sitting in my garage. I have not had an accident and this seat very rarely has anyone sitting in it. When I took it to the Chrysler dealership, the service rep. Said the Chrysler rep. Was there that day. The service rep. Came back to me a little while later and said, "apparently this is happening quite a bit. The Chrysler rep. Has your contact information. They will investigate and get in touch with you." Over a week later, they finally sent an E-mail saying they would not replace the part because the vehicle is out of warranty. This is a safety feature that has failed!!! others have posted on the internet that the same thing happened to them, some while driving down the road! I think there should be a recall to replace the defective active head restraints!!! not only is a broken one going to fail to protect someone in a wreck, but one popping open while driving down the road can cause a wreck! the plastic parts inside the head restraint are apparently not strong enough for the tension that is placed on them. Chrysler should replace these defective safety devices!

My seven month pregant fianc and I entered the vehicle and before starting the truck the passenger side (ahr) headrest deployed without provocation. There was no accident to cause it to deploy and during the incident it struck her in the back of the head. When this happened she nearly had a panic attack having been startled. The broken pieces from the headrest flew out and landed in the back of the vehicle. Had somebody or my child been in the rear seat they would've been showered with pieces as the headrest exploded for no apparent reason. Called Chrysler and they will not cover the repairs because the vehicle is 600 miles over the bumper to bumper warranty. This being a safety issue it really boggles me why I am liable to pay for damages. This isn't a normal wear and tear deal with the vehicle, this is a safety issue. Now that the headrest has exploded she is even more in danger riding in the seat, the headrest being apart causes her to adjust how she sits in the vehicle including how she holds her head. If there is a rear-end collision my fear is the malfunctioned piece of safety equipment will cause more damage than help. This is not acceptable to have customers riding with malfunctioning head restraints.

The active head restraint (headrest) of my Jeep deployed while driving down the highway causing me to swerve into the other lane. Luckily, there weren't any cars immediately around me so I was able to regain control and continue on without injury. I believe this could be a very dangerous defect in other situations. The active head restraint is intended to go off in a collision to prevent whiplash from airbag deployment as far as I understand. My vehicle was not in an accident or touched in any way, simply traveling straight down the highway. This was confirmed by an inspection at the local Jeep dealership.

The wiring harness that runs to the driver side power seat controls has rubbed up against the metal frame and failed. This failure has caused a small electrical fire due to arching which is only solved by pulling the fuse. A new wire harness is needed to fix. Dealership says this is not under warranty. Could have caused fatality if seat was completely engulfed.

The radio and vent controls failed to work for heat and air conditioning, the heated seats had issues, and the steering wheel became extremely hot. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times and they were not able to provide a remedy. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 14,000.

At what point does someone step in and say enough is enough. In 1 1/2 years my vehicle has been in 12 times. Besides the 7 recalls, there has also been issues with the gas cover broke, leather seat issues, power steering, shocks, brake boot and rear camera. If that isn't bad enough, many times they issue a recall and don't even have the parts available. The lemon laws are so dealer and manufacture friendly that it is very difficult to qualify. Each time I go to the dealer it is 120 miles round trip. Someone needs to step in and reimburse the consumers for this expensive mistake that Jeep made in manufacturing these vehicles which has been passed on to the consumer who thought we were getting a reliable product.
