CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Grand Cherokee hasn't seen the same complaint volume as the 2011, at least not yet.
It's worth noting both model years are part of a class-action lawsuit that focuses on a defective TIPM and a long wait for replacement parts.
The 2012 also received national attention after it failed a Swedish Magazine's "moose test". The test measures a vehicle's ability to swerve out of the way of an obstacle you wouldn't want to hit while driving down the road ... like a moose.

This has been a very good vehicle up to this accident - no problem whatsoever - until Feb 14th 2020. My wife was making a right turn into a parking lot when all of a sudden the vehicle accelerated at full throttle. My wife claimed that she stepped on the brake pedal real hard and the vehicle never slowed down. The vehicle jumped over a flower bed then into an empty park vehicle.
Luckily nobody got hurt - the other vehicle was a total write off, frame bent and all. The Jeep was estimated at $4,000.00 CA. Now this is the famous dilemma, did my wife stepped on the gas pedal vs the brake pedal. She's adamant that she pushed hard on the brake pedal. Not sure if this is a computer bug or a design problem. To be fair to Chrysler, it doesn't look like this is a major problem overall. Now the wife refused to drive this vehicle until I tested the animal myself for a long time.
