CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Grand Cherokee hasn't seen the same complaint volume as the 2011, at least not yet.
It's worth noting both model years are part of a class-action lawsuit that focuses on a defective TIPM and a long wait for replacement parts.
The 2012 also received national attention after it failed a Swedish Magazine's "moose test". The test measures a vehicle's ability to swerve out of the way of an obstacle you wouldn't want to hit while driving down the road ... like a moose.
During the summer I have always used a sun visor to protect the nice leather on my jeep overland, I live in Idaho, even with that the leather started to bubble a little and was getting worse as it was getting hotter, now it looks ugly, I went to a shop and they said they will have to take the whole front dash out and redo the leather and would have cost over 1500!! Jeep needs to recall this, I paid a lot of money for this jeep, it still has low miles for this to happen.
Update from Jan 21, 2019: Just contacted Jeep, told them about the situation, they said there is nothing they can do since not many people have filed for complaints and it is not a recall. I informed the representative that I understand that it is not a recall but it should be due to the complaints flooding online due to this issue, there is even a news report on you tube regarding this, and the rep said is people bash things all the time. I told the rep, these are legitimate complaints and jeep is not doing anything about it, the rep the said i can send it up but will get denied because my jeep now has 80000. I called way before the 80k and they still did not want to do anything about it.
The trim on back driver door and all dash trim has come unglued from the Jeep. I had to buy glue to adhere to the vehicle. It looks awful because hard to get glue not to push out sides. Glue looks terrible.
