CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Grand Cherokee hasn't seen the same complaint volume as the 2011, at least not yet.

It's worth noting both model years are part of a class-action lawsuit that focuses on a defective TIPM and a long wait for replacement parts.

The 2012 also received national attention after it failed a Swedish Magazine's "moose test". The test measures a vehicle's ability to swerve out of the way of an obstacle you wouldn't want to hit while driving down the road ... like a moose.

Plastic "chrome" ring around cup holders is coming off and presents a hazard. Very sharp! Should be removed or replaced. Not an uncommon with this model.

My 2012 JGCL which I bought brand new and take excellent care of...had the center console divider break in the first month...which of course wasn't covered by warranty, even though I had bought extra coverage, etc. The carpet wore very quickly and has several bald spots. I get a water line down the back window but the dealership says nothing is leaking in...although I've had a never used cargo net fastener rust out and fall off. I've had several recalls on this vehicle. Each time I am told by the dealership that "Chrysler hasn't released the parts" and they promise to put me on a list and call when the parts are in...yet they NEVER call me back...I have to call them. Once I received a recall that said it was a very dangerous condition and my vehicle could stall at high speed and cause death...yet the dealership was not able to fix the problem because they didn't have the parts...I got on a list...I waited...waited...waited, finally I called and told them that if I crashed on the expressway (Chicago's version of a freeway) I would sue the dealership for not acting with any urgency to get my vehicle recall rectified. The dealership once gave me an appointment to fix a recalled alternator, kept my vehicle all day...then called me to say they didn't have the right alternator and I could pick up the unrepaired vehicle and they would put me on another wait. Chrysler would send me recall notices that said "FINAL NOTICE" yet the dealership didn't have the parts! I just had my vehicle in for yet another recall (after a long wait and many calls) for a possible fire hazard in the visor light or some crap. Now this week my radio went out intermittently and now stopped completely (CD player works, though) and my check engine light came on. We tightened the gas cap, yadda yadda but the light stayed on. Went to Auto Zone and they hooked it up to a computer...says it's the temperature regulating thermostat. My radio is still out completely. I see the radio problem looks pretty common according to on line complaints...where's the recall? Not happy with this vehicle, I feel like I paid a good buck to drive a demo vehicle or something...Chrysler should be paying me for the feedback, what a crock. I had good luck with a 1993 Cherokee Sport that ran forever, this one has changed my mind about Jeeps (and Chrysler) completely.
