It's worth noting both model years are part of a class-action lawsuit that focuses on a defective TIPM and a long wait for replacement parts.
The 2012 also received national attention after it failed a Swedish Magazine's "moose test". The test measures a vehicle's ability to swerve out of the way of an obstacle you wouldn't want to hit while driving down the road ... like a moose.

Picked up vehicle Sept 2012 had body clip caught between inner door trim & door buckling the trim. Replaced took a month to get part in. First service told of vibration kicking in when stopped in traffic. They replaced the thermo fan thinking it was out of balance. Problem not fixed still there took it back to them 4 more times still couldn't hear it. Managed to get the workshop foreman to get from behind his desk & took him for a drive two minutes up the road at a stop light. Vibration starts & he goes "that's the air con compressor" 12 months of trying to get them to hear this noise. Funny when you take a vehicle for a drive it makes the noise instead of sitting in a workshop idling. It was replaced & guess what, it is starting to make the same vibration again not as often but it is getting more frequent. Just over 12 months old.
I changed to a closer dealership as I had no confidence in there staff plus they charged through the nose for servicing over $130 for 5.5 litres of oil I supply my own oil that meets the spec at less than 1/2 the price. The other thing was on the last service with them I waited up the street from the service department. It sat out the front for an hour then was taken inside for the service. They rang me 45 minutes later & told me it was ready. I checked the bill & the had charged out 2 hour labour as per the manufacturers service guide lines. I blew up at the guy & asked to speak to the service manager he refused to talk to me. I don't have an issue paying to get it serviced but at $165 per hour & for an apprentice to complete the work is ripping people off. The dealership went broke & has now been taken over by another large multi vehicle dealership.
The current dealership service department are good people the service manager who has now left sat down with me & listed the concerns with vehicle. 1 Front bar kept popping of clip under drivers side headlight. 2 Thumping noise from driveline on take off & slowing down & droning noise at highway speed under acceleration. 3 Vibration from air con compressor still there.
Showed them the bar went for long drive & they acknowledged the thumping noise but told me the air con was functioning normally. After many visits back to them to try computer upgrades, change prop shafts & an irate call to Jeep in Melbourne head office I was told they are going to put in new transfer case & supply new bar & fittings.
The guys rang me when all the parts were ready & fitted them in a day with new computer upgrade for transmission. All good took it back a couple of weeks later for the schedule service & was informed they replaced a rear shock which was leaking. Well done guys.
The issue now is 12000 K's later the issue is starting to become apparent again well it started about 5000k's after all this work. I am now just pissed to no end I am due for a service but my frustration is at the Jeep H/O not the guys who are doing the work.
This is the biggest bucket of sh*t & my concern is that something is going to go just out of the warranty period. I spend a lot of time n the road & have spent many days getting repairs on this sh*t box.
I tell people don't bother with this brand it is not worth the trouble..
