CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Grand Cherokee hasn't seen the same complaint volume as the 2011, at least not yet.

It's worth noting both model years are part of a class-action lawsuit that focuses on a defective TIPM and a long wait for replacement parts.

The 2012 also received national attention after it failed a Swedish Magazine's "moose test". The test measures a vehicle's ability to swerve out of the way of an obstacle you wouldn't want to hit while driving down the road ... like a moose.

Have had many vehicles with 160,000 plus miles and never had to replace A/C Condenser , especially at 106,000 miles. 6K miles past my extended warranty and Dealer would not help. Sent me to Chrysler. Think there should be RECALL as I saw YouTube video with same issue so must happen often.

Update from Mar 14, 2019: Dealer quoted $850 to replace AC condenser. Got it done for $425 at local garage.Note that front radar sensor must be re-aligned/calibrated after removing the bumper cover to do the repair.

Jeep Grand Cherokee leaking on driveway. Dx at dealer is the combination transmission AC condensor cooler. This type of combined unit gave Ford Escape and Mazda Tribute owners a big pain in the neck when they failed in 2008. Ford issued an extended warranty instead of a recall - lets see what Chrysler does. The a/c condenser is not part of the powertrain warranty. When the check engine light came on the diagnostic codes were in relation to gear ratio error as a result of hardly any transmission fluid left. I find it highly disingenuous for Jeep to not work with me in getting the AC condenser cooler under warranty. Next step is to file a formal writ to the Consumer Protection Bureau and see if we can start the process of a recall.
