CarComplaints.com Notes: The fourth generation Grand Cherokee took the relatively trouble-free run of the 3rd-generation and flipped the script.
From 2010 to 2011, complaints about the vehicle not starting increased 10-fold. In fact, the 2011 model year is riddled with engine problems and a defective TIPM might be to blame. The TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) distributes power to all the eletrical components in the vehicle, so when it starts acting funny so do numerous other components in the car. Orders for new TIPMs were so abundant that parts became scarce, prompting a class-action lawsuit claiming Chrysler ignored this obvious defect.
By 2012 complaints dropped back down by about 80%. Needless to say, if you see a used 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee on a lot just keep walking.

I told my Original Story in a previous complaint that I completed about 5 min ago.. I am posting the same story as there were TWO ISSUES with my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland
And the Instruction here tell you to file a report on each issue... So that is the reason for my repeat story.
Just before the end of my story -- You will see reference to the Two Issues I had,, that needed to be fixed. Part Numbers and Repair Costs are also explained.
Here is my story:
It all started one day when I opened up my drivers door and the interior lights flickered.
Then while driving at night I noticed the knob / dial used to turn on your Headlights, Fog Lights, Parking Lights etc etc etc... was pulsating... By pulsating I mean the illumination part above the knob / dial was flashing continuously - bright - dim-- bright - dim -- bright -- dim.
The following day I discovered NONE of the controls on the left side of the steering wheel worked. I could Not use the controls to change channels on my radio or increase / lower the volume... I could not use the telephone hands free controls when trying to make a phone call... Nothing on the left side of the steering wheel worked. The controls on the right side of the steering wheel worked fine.
A day or 2 later I discovered the controls on the Right side of the steering wheel had also Stopped Working, and my Horn also did not work.
About 1 day later I discovered All of the interior lights inside the vehicle stopped working. Regardless of what car door I opened --- None of the interior lights came on -- So I tried to turn them on Manually --- But they would not work.
On this same day one of the dash board Idiot lights come on.. indicating that my Traction Control was Off... The idiot light was a picture of a car with two squiggly lines behind it.... I tried pressing the Traction Control Button on the dash board panel alongside the steering wheel heater button... But it would not turn off.
Fortunately I already had an appointment scheduled for April 2nd at "Milford Auto Group Inc" to have Recall work completed on the Brake Booster and the Fuel Pump Relay. I have been dealing with "Milford Auto Group" for several years and have purchased 2 brand new vehicles from them.... I am extremely Happy with my Local Jeep Dealer.... They are really good / nice people. (they did not build my car... so my issues are Not with them)
Anyway -- On the Moring of April 2nd -- I got into my car to bring my vehicle in for service. As I started my vehicle --- My windshield wipers came on even though it was a dry clear sunny day.
I tried to turn them off -- But they would Not turn off.....I tried squirting the windshield washer fluid --- but it would not squirt ( yes reservoir was 3/4 full - I checked)
My Rear Window Wiper However,,, would NOT turn on.... even though I tried to turn it on several times. ( I was just curious to see if it would work..)
I also had NO turn signals They would not come on no matter how many times I flipped the lever up or down.
My Headlights also came on and I could Not turn them off either... I drove 34 miles to my Jeep Dealer... and neither the Windshield Wipers or Headlights would turn off.
I had to leave the Vehicle with them as it was Not something they could fix while I waited.
They called me on April 4th to say my vehicle was ready..
When I arrived I went over the repair paperwork and it showed the Service Tech REPLACED -- TOTALLY INTEREGRATED POWER MODULE ( part # 68244852AA ) Cost for part $882.00 + $210 labor + $72.00 state tax
In Addition the Service Tech REPLACED --- STEERING CONTROL MODULE ( part # 1HE80HL9AF ) Cost for part $475.00 + $210 labor + $45.00 state tax
Today is April 5th... I did Not have any issues driving home from the Jeep Dealer after the Repairs were completed... So --- My Jeep which only has 47742 miles on it... is now operating the way it SHOULD BE.
I am Extremely Upset / Annoyed / Displeased / etc etc etc... With Chrysler.... for the POOR QUALITY of the Parts they used when Building My 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland.... It Cost Me $1894.00 to have my vehicle fixed.... and these problems should not have occurred on such a new vehicle.
If My Jeep was 10 years old and had 150,000 miles on it... I would be more understanding about parts wearing out or going bad..... BUT being a 2011 with only 47,742 miles on it.... These Issues / Defects should Never have occurred....
In reading many of the other comments written here by other 2011 Jeep owners... It appears I am NOT the only one who has had these DEFECTS.... There are Quite a few ... AND Maybe ...NHTSA & Chrysler should classify this as a RECALL ITEM just as they have done with 3 other items that have plagued the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Models.....
I hope my information will Help someone else who may be experiencing similar problems with their Jeep Vehicle...
Tomorrow --- I will be Contacting the Chrysler Corporation to file my complaint with them & seek reimbursement for the Money that it cost me to repair my vehicle...
Thanks for letting me tell my story..... Again....
