CarComplaints.com Notes: The fourth generation Grand Cherokee took the relatively trouble-free run of the 3rd-generation and flipped the script.

From 2010 to 2011, complaints about the vehicle not starting increased 10-fold. In fact, the 2011 model year is riddled with engine problems and a defective TIPM might be to blame. The TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) distributes power to all the eletrical components in the vehicle, so when it starts acting funny so do numerous other components in the car. Orders for new TIPMs were so abundant that parts became scarce, prompting a class-action lawsuit claiming Chrysler ignored this obvious defect.

By 2012 complaints dropped back down by about 80%. Needless to say, if you see a used 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee on a lot just keep walking.

The dealer list for the warranty repair of the recall is 7 pages long and in 3 months only one page has been completed. I believe this is an unreasonable delay for a somewhat basic part related to an important safety function like braking.

We received an important safety recall letter about the brake booster on my wife's 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and called our dealer, westgate Chrysler in plainfield, in, on June 13, 2014, at 10:19 a.M. and were told it would be two(2) months more. Today, October 31, 2014, at 8:38 a.M. we were told it was still on order. Tomorrow will be the first day of November! I wanted to let you know, so hopefully you can address this issue with Chrysler. If the brake may be compromised and may "cause a crash without warning" this is a serious issue and Chrysler needs to do a much better job of servicing it. Thank you, in advance, for your assistance.

Local Chrysler dealerships do not have parts to correct brake booster recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154. Have been waiting 3 months for replacement parts. Dealerships say parts are back ordered and they have no estimate on when new parts will arrive. Recall is not being addressed within a reasonable amount of time.

The Jeep has no brake pedal, very difficult to stop. The dealer has the vehicle and said it has a recall on the power brake booster. They said they are waiting on the part from Chrysler but it has been 9 days and they do not have a eta. The Jeep is unsafe to drive at any speed therefore we are forced to leave the Jeep at the dealer for a undetermined time.

Approximately 6 weeks ago I reported a lack of response when braking. Dealer looked at the system and found no issue. Reported it again two weeks ago. Dealer looked at the system and found brake booster needed changing. Got the vehicle back last week and the problem has re-occurred. At a standstill when you press the brake pedal you get an air brake type sound, and a slight knock, which appears to coming from the compartment behind the pedal. Issue has been reported again to the dealer. Thanks,

Report receipt date: Apr 01, 2014 NHTSA campaign number: 14V154000 component(s): Service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic Jeep has not derived the correct test to correct this issue. My brakes failed last winter due to this very issue. Jeep would not correct the brake issue until they did a formal recall and letters were sent. I now have my letter and went to the dealer. The dealer refuses to replace the brake booster as it apparently passes the test Jeep established. They only put up the booster shield. The problem is that the water already did get into my brake booster and my brakes froze. I nearly had three accidents over the course of the winter 2013/2014. I expect I will have more close calls if not a full on accident this year when my brakes again freeze up and stop working. This needs to be addressed, and Jeep needs to replace all these boosters. Jeep are not only sending me back out on the road with a dangerous vehicle, but thousands of others who allegedly passed the test, yet will freeze again this winter. Unfortunately, we need to become a statistic before Jeep properly corrects the issue.
