From 2010 to 2011, complaints about the vehicle not starting increased 10-fold. In fact, the 2011 model year is riddled with engine problems and a defective TIPM might be to blame. The TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) distributes power to all the eletrical components in the vehicle, so when it starts acting funny so do numerous other components in the car. Orders for new TIPMs were so abundant that parts became scarce, prompting a class-action lawsuit claiming Chrysler ignored this obvious defect.
By 2012 complaints dropped back down by about 80%. Needless to say, if you see a used 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee on a lot just keep walking.

I paid last year to have it fixed. It was working ok for the summer, now it stop working again. I took it back to the shop and was told to take it to the dealer. I purchased a new warranty and they will not pay for the repair. I am mad as hell, I don't understand how can they build a car with this type of problem and my car is not the only one. IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BECAUSE IT IS A FIRE HAZARD.
Actuator Motors and Gears and Doors on BOTH sides replaced--(Blend Doors replaced 3 times over 6 months). They were not blowing Hot air into the cabin. Worked after replacing, but the gears have been replaced TWICE more as of this writing 6 months later, when the A/C-Heating System wasn't blowing cold air.
I had purchase the blend housing $ 475.00. However this issue was going on for a year from drivers side after they changed the gear/actuator and blowing motor. My concern is that the Dealership had the unit and they should have looked into the issue at to why the gear broke and check both sides. Now when you turn A/C on Passenger Side, it blows hot air and the gear on the passenger side and blend doors are melted and jammed. More upset that this issue that should have been looked at while it was under warranty, now its off and cost for Labour over rated. This issue should be Recall with Jeep , as I can see its fire issue.
Quoting the mechanic, who is one of the most honest in the business: "See this part." Shows me the actuator. "This has to be one of the worst designed actuators I've ever seen. And what's worse, you have a lot more of these in that Jeep." Jeep saved a few fractions of a cents on the part that's going now costing all of us.

I was told it will cost $1800 to have this fixed by the dealership. Again my truck is on 7 years old, how is it acceptable that I would have to pay for repairs of this nature in just 7 years. I will never buy a Jeep again.
AC problem 2011. Headed to the dealership tomorrow. The AC blows doesn't work on passenger side. Will only blowing HOT air. Driver side seems to be OK for now. I checked to see if I had lost pressure, but that check out find.
I purchased the Jeep in 2011, and used the dealer for all required maintenance. My right tail light kept going out, and my running lights burnt out within the first year. The motor on the vent system had a high pitch since purchased, I complained about it at each visit, was assured it was nothing. Yet almost 2 years to the date it was worse and the AC/Vent were slowing down when turned on. I had them check it again, and they replaced the motor. Then a year and two months later, had taken back in for a recall repair I complained about the vent fan again happening, and because it was over a year, was no longer covered, I had to pay to have it replaced, $150.00. Now owned car for 4.5 years and the vent motor is going out again. Not to mention I have had to replace the bulbs in the Rt Side tail lights at least once a year. The running lights are not a simple replacement, they will require to remove the bumper to replace yet, they are considered standard wear and tear. Frustrated with this Jeep. Trading in for Chevy
fan on the passagers side blows but does not warm up
Right now it is not a big issue, but in the summer I need the AC. I have not had this back to the Jeep dealer yet. Has anyone else had a similar problem and how much did it cost to fix. I like the vehicle and want to keep it a few more years.
AC problem started in March 2015. Dealership looked into it and informed me a hose line had a leak but could not fix at the time because they didn't have the right part in stock and it would take 2-3 weeks for the part to come in. Went back in April when they called to let me know the part was in and they fixed within a few hours. June 2015 AC stopped working again...this time the passenger side was blowing HOT air and the driver side was blowing warm air.
Dealership couldn't look at it until 10 days later so I took it to a local shop with a good reputation on a Saturday . They checked it out and said they couldn't find anything wrong but I was low on coolant. So they added coolant and put dye in so it would show if there was a leak and told me to bring it back by on Monday when they would be open all day and their AC expert could really look into it. They kept my Jeep all day and said it blew cool air on the driver side and passenger side all day. Didn't charge me anything and said bring it back if I had any more problems with it.
July 2015 same thing happened...driver side blowing warm air, passenger side blowing HOT air again. Took it back to local shop and they found that one of the ports had a leak and could fix it that day. They checked the other port and said it was fine. July 31st stopped working again and I decided to try a 3rd shop. They looked at it and said it was something to do with the dual controls but could repair that day. Worked great for 2 weeks and now it is blowing warm and hot air again. I will find my receipt and take it back to the 3rd shop tomorrow!!!!
For a 3 year old vehicle this Jeep has had it's share of issues, one being the heat/ac system. First my passenger side quit blowing heat okay no biggy then the drivers side only blew Luke warm. Then the clicking started. Being busy and this is my only car I finally made it into the dealership only to find out my service contract is expired. Well $625 later and 2 new actuators I have AC and heat.
I took my Jeep back to the dealer because the a/c was blowing hot air. Of course they couldn't find a leak but said something was definitely leaking. They charged me $124 to put Freon back in along with dye that will be visible with a black light when I go back in a week for them to find the leak. Then they said they will charge me to fix the problem. (another $100 with the extended warranty) Thankfully I bought the extended warranty because I have used it multiple times so far. Anybody else with this problem??
I wish Mercury would make the Mountaineer again. It was the best SUV I ever owned.
My 2011 Jeep Cherokee has been in 6 times now for the AC and heat. It's always the passenger side. Warm air for the AC and cool air for the heat. It's in right now they are say it's no longer covered under warranty. Since its been an on going problem since I bought the Jeep I think it should be covered. I don't know what to do.
Well another one for the Jeep. It seems the service port on the A/C system (where the coolant goes in) leaks, another problem that after research found all Jeeps to have this issue. Are you kidding me? I am convinced there is NO QUALITY CONTROL in the building of the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
New to this site but this vehicle is four years old and I have had the actuator gear inside the dash which operates the air flow repaired twice in four years, and this vehicle was purchased new.
AC stops working in the really bad heat, when it rains so you can't even open windows. Dealer can't fix it because when I call for an appointment it starts working again.
A/C just started blowing cool air versus cold air. They isolated the problem and schedule a fix that took a full day. It was the first time my dealership actually KNEW what to do to fix my car and i didn't have to bring it back a bunch of times. Overall not a huge problem except it apparently required them to remove my entire dash which meant they left pry marks in the leather, scratched the dash, scratched the steering wheel, etc. They basically treated the beautiful interior of my car like it was a 25 year old dump truck. They said the leather would relax in the sun so the marks would disappear and that i would have to bring it back and they could fix the scratches....like i really want to waste at least another day doing that. My dealership sucks.
