My 2008 jeep grand cheroke has caught on fire multiple times & started smoking. The rpms would always jump High and one day I went to go leave and it went real high causing it to accelerate on its own and went I went to go try to stop it my breaks failed and emergency brake would not work.
the jeep goes into limp mode and gets stuck in 2 gear I have replaced the shifter solenoid and still happens I have read about this happing to the same jeep from 2005-2010 model and this is a safety issue that need to be recalled immediately. I was driving on the highway and the jeep shifted into 2nd gear mind I was going the speed limit of 65 and it went down to 30 MPH and it almost caused a pike up on the interstate.
Electrical issues on a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee purchased June 2020. Car keeps cutting off. The ignition key seem to be sticking between the ON and START position. Constantly having to pull onto the side of the rode or having to hurry and put my hazard lights on because car cuts off. I have taken it to the jeep dealership 2-3 times, they couldn-??t diagnose my car. Only thing they did was put a new starter on. Problem still occurs. I-??ve taken it to multiple mechanics. Problems unknown. A new starter, alternator & battery has been replaced. And recently my airbag light has came on. Which comes and goes. I-??ve had this car since June 2020. and it-??s given me the same problem with no one able to tell me what-??s wrong with it and I-??ve replaced the batteries in the key fob. Today the car was just blank when I put the key in. I-??m so confused. Car won-??t go over 40 mph. I kept notes and saved receipts and text messages via jeep, via the car salesman, stating how unsafe this car has been-??.
While driving if the throttle is pressed it often sticks down for a few seconds. On numerous occasions it has stuck fully open. There does not appear to be any mechanical binding or dirt/debris causing the issue.

Takata recall... my Jeep had accelerated on its own 5 times now. Two of which I was on M24 which is a very busy road. First time I almost hit a man on a motorcycle as my foot was cramming on my brake peddle the Jeep was still accelerating, I then had to put it in neutral to get it to stop. Pulled over its still reving itself up. I had to turn it off and back on. Today this happened and I almost rear ended a semi truck.

Driving on highway 91 South check battery light came on then check engine and then all warning lights illuminated. Then speedometer, lights and engine shut off shortly after at 65 mph...very dangerous had to coast to the side of the highway with heavy weekend traffic. Towed Jeep to Chrysler dealer where they got code B229 and B1A35. Dealer replaced win module(ignition) and new keys. Seems to be running okay at the moment. Had to pay dealer almost $800. To rectify not to mention the towing and rental costs. This item should be recalled and we should be reimbursed!
Had the N23 recall done on Oct 7/14. The next day while driving low speed, the vehicle completely shut down, without notice or warning. Radio stayed on. Dash lights completely blank. Power steering gone, power brakes gone. This happened twice in same day. In first incident, managed to slowly get vehicle over on shoulder, put in park and restart. Second incident, shut down on busy city road at low speed while driving, stopped, put in park and restarted immediately. Vehicle back at dealer today! wish I had never done the recall work! no problems at all before that.
My vehicle kept stalling like it was running out of gas and I took it to the Jeep dealer. They kept my car for a week and couldn't figure out what was wrong with it.they told me it might be a fuel pump issue but they weren't positive so they asked me to pick up my car and keep a log. The second time it happened I took it back to the dealer and they kept my car for 5 weeks and couldn't replicate the issue. The customer service was awful. They basically told me they didn't know what was wrong and asked me to pick up my car. I picked my car up and the first day I drove it to work it left me stranded on the highway. The car started stalling out and I couldn't maintain my speed on the highway. I had the gas pushed all the way down and I was barely able to get up to 45 mph on a 65 mph highway. I had it towed to a different Jeep dealer which said it was the transmission which I had to pay to have fixed but I think it was related to the fuel pump issue and the transmission blowing up was a result of that not being fixed. The car is starting to have a knocking sound when I drive it again and I'm not convinced I won't be stranded on the side of the road again. It's completely unacceptable that when I had a problem with my Jeep I take it to the dealer and they don't know what's wrong and can't help me. If they don't know, who is supposed to know"? I feel that my children and I are unsafe in this car. It's unacceptable that a car just stalls out of nowhere on a highway and Jeep/Chrysler acted like they could care less. Like it was my problem and not theirs. They inconvenienced me for over 5 weeks and I still don't have a reliable car that I feel safe to drive. Completely unacceptable. Is it going to take someone being seriously injured or killed for Chrysler to do the right thing"

While driving on interstate 15 vehicle engine started to shift back and forth. All the sudden engine light appeared and vehicle shut off. I was able to restart the vehicle, but when vehicle reach a certain speed as it decelerate. Engine commence to shift back and forth. Vehicle speed decelerate and engine light appears. Vehicle was diagnosed with a bad camshaft sensor. Sensor was replaced but vehicle still decelerating and shutting off while driving. I'm taking vehicle in tomorrow, but pray the fix the problem. Only transportation but family safety at risk!
I switched lanes to the right to make a right turn up ahead when my accelerator when into full throttle! I stepped on the brake with 1 foot and nothing happened. I then used my 2 feet and stepped as hard as I could & the engine kept getting loud and wanted to go full speed! I down shifted (my automatic vehicle) into first gear and pulled up my emergency brake and still my Jeep wouldn't stop! the engine was fighting against me. It finally started to slow down just before approaching the parked vehicle up ahead with passenger inside. I was very fortunate (this time) but nearly suffered an heart attack.
I was driving the Jeep and it accelerated suddenly as if the throttle was stuck. The throttle pedal in fact was not stuck and I had to shift into neutral to get it to stop accelerating. After shifting to neutral, the Jeep stalled in the roadway and I ended up driving through my neighbor's yard to avoid pulling out into a busy intersection as I had no brakes or steering. I almost ran over a pedestrian I didn't see walking on the sidewalk. This vehicle has been to dealerships multiple times for stalling at freeway speeds and stalling when driving around town. This has been an ongoing safety concern, especially with the stalling and Chrysler is well aware of the problem. Most recent Chrysler case # is [xxx]. they have replaced multiple things so far and the problem still exists.
