This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I recently leased a new 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.7 L, 6 cylinders. This was the second time in less than a month that the vehicle stalled while driving at highway speed 50 mph) and local speed 30 mph. The vehicle suddenly lost power and could not be driven at more than 20 mph, and the indicator gauges seem ed stuck in place. Also, the vehicle shut off when making a sharp turn into a parking space at work. The first incident occurred on a major highway in New York city, and my fear was that another vehicle would rear end my vehicle. We had the vehicle towed to the original purchasing location at additional costs to us, and they stated that the problem was related to the shift controller, transmission not sending the proper signal for it to shift properly. They told us they would replace the solenoid, and it should be fine. This was less than a month ago, and now my wife was unwilling to drive the vehicle for fear of being stuck in traffic or being involved in an accident. I will be taking the vehicle back to the dealer on 7/9/07. Any additional information you could provide to address this problem was greatly appreciated. I will also contact daimler/Chrysler corporate headquarters in the morning.
