Passenger side seatbelt receptacle began to stick and not release reliably. Within a week, the seatbelt buckle would not go into the receptacle, rendering the seatbelt useless. The Jeep dealership quoted a price of $413 before tax to replace the defective part.

I have experience with front driver and passenger seat belt for failure to retract back to reel properly. This vehicle under lifetime service contract through Chrysler. I demonstrated service manager twice and she said her mechanic tested and it was meet factory specification. The reel designed by manufacturer was very poor designed with cheap materials. The belts unable to retract during very cold weather. My wife almost tripped out while she was exit the vehicle because of failure retract the belt properly. The driver side had been replaced twice in past but first time on passenger side. I spoke with customer service at factory and they always favor for service representative over customer. I became very frustrating and concern about our safety. I have pictures of the incidents show belts were not retract and left loose to allow door strike the belt and degrade the strength in case of accident. My concern that if I may involve an accident and will belt able to stop me from impact with steering wheel or windshield. That is why I feel uncomfortable with this situation. I have to arrange for purchase replacement driver/passenger seat belts for $138 each plus sales tax and my precision time and driving to the dealer. So far, my experience with Chrysler, General Motors and Ford were not great and my Jeep will be last vehicle for my wife and myself. Because they showed that they care about money instead of safety.

Seat belt failed to retract when exit and also failed to secure the belt properly. Sometimes, it stuck and had to effort to release the belt properly. The seat belt was replaced under factory warranty. Now, the seat belt returned same problem as original. I have to pay 100 dollars under contract to replace it. It may last for a year before have to replace again and again. I went to used car lot and saw Jeep Grand Cherokee and found out the seat belt was loose and unable to retract properly.

I was stopping when I was rear-ended by a vehicle going approximately 60 miles per hour. The impact of the collision pushed me into the vehicle in front of me. My seat belt (one piece) experienced a partial failure. The lap band locked up, however the shoulder piece failed to lock, causing my head to hit the steering wheel. In the emergency room, I received 5 stitches on the bridge of my nose and am experiencing significant bruising and swelling of the face.
