The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the rpms increased without warning. In addition, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate and the engine rpms increased. Multiple warning lights on the instrument panel illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and was taken to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 186,000.
