Over the last couple months I have had my "check engine light" come on and the code was identifying a catalytic converter. I replaced the converter and the sensors along with replacing exhaust gaskets and the light still stayed on so I replaced the catalytic converter again thinking it was a bad converter. The engine light stayed on so I took my jeep to the dealership and they "reflashed" the catalytic converter with a software update around $80 bucks and that appeared to fix the problem. I thought everything was great then a week later the "check engine light" came on again and this time with a vengeance because it started flashing then my jeep cut off. I got it to restart long enough to take it back to the dealership. They kept my car 3 days and called me up to tell me that "cylinders 2/4/6/8 misfiring. coolant getting into cylinder head coming out exhaust est one side cylinder head parts and labor would be 3,255.00 Let me first say that I take care of my jeep. I get regular oil changes, fluids, etc and I treat it like it's my baby so this really shocked me. It costed me over $100 to diagnose this problem and with only 107,640 the dealership told me I should just trade it in. I took it to another mechanic and they took the engine apart and found out not one but both cylinders are cracked and the cylinders cost around 1,800 a piece! They told me it would be cheaper to put in a used engine so that's where I am at now and this is costing me $3,500 for an engine with 60,000 miles on it.
