2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo involved in the P41 ignition recall. Vehicle continues to not start randomly throughout the day. This time enough was enough...it has spent 2 days sitting idle. Battery new. Alternator new. Starter checked out clean. Waited hours for service only to turn the key and it worked. Drove it 15 miles to my home, and turned it off. Went to restart it and nothing. This has been going on for over a year, but anytime I have it towed it starts up. Nothing in the diagnostics.
Called recall hotline and was told it was unrelated...how can it be unrelated if the only thing that gets the Jeep going again is wiggling the key?? Inexcusable that they can't inform dealers of what the part will be - mechanical or electrical - and Shame on Jeep for taking over a year to get replacement parts for this problem. I do believe this is an electrical related ignition issue and it is not getting enough contact to start the vehicle. Are there other people out there that have had starting issues and wiggled their key to get it to start? Either enough people haven't complained...or they need to get some lawsuits from accidents caused by faulty ignition switches.
