2004 Grand Cherokee limited 43,000 miles no heat on passenger side. Purchased used at 38,000 miles from Chrysler dealer. Florida resident and did not try heat until December.
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee - HVAC system exhibits loud creaking/groaning sounds from dash. Also system exhibits widely fluctuating temperatures. The system is the electronic dual-zone climate control. Dealers explanation "everything is fine, they all do that."
- the contact stated that the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee has problems in the winter weather when using the heater in the vehicle. The contact stated that when turning on the heat in the vehicle the passenger side air vents blows out cold air. He stated that while driving and the heat wasturned on the passenger side blew cold air and the windows become foggy. Hewas unable to see clearly out of the windows. He had contacted the dealership, and was told that this is an ongoing complaint. The contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer, but has no case #.
1) when purchased passenger side vent always made noise after shutdown 2) passenger side heat stopped working completely..blows cold air in winter 3)not yet fixed due to high costs.
The blend doors on my Jeep are not functioning properly. The heater and defroster blow cold air. I have heard that this is happening so frequently that the parts needed to fix it are on national back order.
The HVAC unit does not work properly in the sense that the heat does not work in the winter and the A/C does not work in the summer. Through some research online, this seems to be a big problem and needs fixing at the manufacturers expense. The cost to fix this problem is around $1000 and is one that should not happen.
When driving my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee in cold weather with rain or any moisture on the windshield the HVAC ducts will blow cold air on the windshield causing the windshield to freeze quicker while decreasing my visibility while driving. The vehicle tends to have this problem 7 out of 10 starts and some times resets it self only when the Jeep has been sitting for at least 3 to 5 hours. The dealer claimed it was in working order but I told them there is a serious problem that caused me to nearly hit the car in front of me while driving when the windshield instantly started to freeze up. Luckily I kept spraying washer fluid to clear the window in time before I got into a major accident.
Vent controls do not work. When defroster is on and change to vents or floor vents defroster stays on and will not change for several hours. Was told by the dealer ship it was the blend door.
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 'blend door' breaks causing no heat to get to the windshield for defrosting. Dealerships state it is a $1200 - $1500 fix and it is very common for this problem to occur on most trucks of this model year. In winter months you cannot defrost your windshield or get heat to the interior. This fix is a mechanical flaw, not an owner issue yet Chrysler makes you pay to repair their faulty engineering.
Automatic climate control system failure leads to loss of windshield defroster. System failure is caused by failure of the blend doors to respond to user input. System failure results in loss of airflow through windshield defrost/defog vents. Operation of vehicle during inclement weather and system failure will result in decreased visibility through front windshield which could contribute to collision, loss of vehicle control, etc... no manual override of automatic system is possible. Repair requires removal of complete dash to remove and replace blend door assemblies.
