I bought this 2004 grand Cherokee Overland v8 4.7L from my son in law, who was the original owner. He kept a record of any and all repairs done to vehicle including every oil change and windshield washer fluid fill. My issue is that on August 21, 2015 with only 101,045 miles he had the power steering pump, pulley, hoses and fluid flush done as the pump was leaking. Then January 29, 2018 he replaced the power steering pump and hoses, it was still leaking and making noises when he picked it up from dealership. It was brought back to dealership the same day, the dealership installed another 2 power steering pumps that were faulty before he got the jeep back on 2/5/2018. On 08/01/2018 jeep was brought back to dealership to have power steering pump replaced again.. I have had this jeep since 08/31/2018 and now today is 08/13/2019 and the power steering pump has started making noises and its getting harder to turn, especially when moving at a slower speed. This will now be 5 times that the power steering pump has failed in this vehicle..
Driving my jeep on a busy street and the power steering goes out when making a right turn to enter onto the freeway. Wasn't able to make the turn and had to reverse out of the situation since the vehicle wouldn't turn at all . Called the local Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep and they said it wasn't a part of the "recalled" jeeps which is upsetting since this is a common problem it seems like. Now I'm unable to drive my jeep since unlike NASCAR you have to not only turn left....but also right.
