The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 70 mph, the heater and air conditioner failed to properly regulate and function. In addition, the thermostat displayed an incorrect reading. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer multiple times where it was diagnosed that the mode door and the heat actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to another dealer where it was diagnosed that the control head needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.
Air conditioner blower motor failed to operate due to melting of connection of wiring harness to blower motor resistor. Possibility of fire with toxic fumes. Part was replaced by dealer and is available.
