The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at speeds of 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. After several attempts, the contact was able to restart the vehicle. The dealer performed a diagnostic and discovered that the crankshaft position sensor had failed due to excessive moisture. The contact was able to locate NHTSA recall campaign id number 04V112000 (electrical system: Starter assembly) and inquired with the manufacturer who advised the contact that his VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was left in possession of the dealer who was replacing the crankshaft position sensor at the owner's expense. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileages were 123,000.
