I have no heat in this vehicle. I replace a part and detached the glove compartment permanently so that I can turn a knob to get heat, at least, on the driver side. There is zero heat on the passenger side, but I engage the "C" button and the passenger side gets recirculated air on that side, (not warm, but at least not freezing cold). Sometimes turning the knob engages the heat, sometimes not. I have discovered that this is a defect in manufacturing for 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited vehicles, along with prior years. However, to my knowledge, there has been no recall. I purchased this vehicle pre-owned, with 80K miles on it. My question is if this is a defect in manufacturing, why should I have to pay hundreds of dollars to repair it. It seems that the dealership should absorb the cost of this repair and not the consumer. Additionally, why hasn't this problem been listed as a recall?
The contact owns a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the front driver side and both rear windows had to be replaced. The contact stated that the motors failed in all three windows and the windows would not stay in the upright position. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 90,000.
Jeep Grand Cherokee 2003 defect in blend door design, broken, no heat, no defrost, is a safety issue, unable to drive vehicle safely in cold weather because no heat to defrost windshield.
Total loss of heat on the passenger side. Now the drivers side has no heat either. I live in Canada and we need the heat to work or the vehicle is totally useless if you can't see out the windshield! Jeep dealers are aware of the problem, but won't fix it by recall. They expect you to pay anywhere from 800-1500 for them to fix it and a loss of your Jeep for at least 3 days. This is nuts!
Blend door on heater broken, unable to turn heat on or defrost. This makes this vehicle unsafe to drive in cold weather. I can not drive vehicle in winter time. No assistance from dealer in repairing this defective blend door.

Blend door failure in the HVAC system leading to inadequate defrosting of front windshield impairing vision. Dealership was aware of the issue prior to failure as this is a common malfunction. Repair work was not covered under premium warranty plan.
Problem with visibility, defroster, both blend doors are broken, due to a defective part, there is no heat or defrosting on this vehicle. 2003 Grand Cherokee, I can not drive in cold temps with no heat, or defrost on windshield this is a safety hazard no help from Jeep, cost to determine what repair needed $100 & then repair is over $1000 and involves removing entire dash to replace these parts. Please assist Jeep owners with this very common defect.
When the weather gets cold and I turn the heater it only blows cold air. While driving through atlanta this past Tuesday I nearly had an accident because the windows were fogged up. It is impossible to keep the windows from fogging up unless you open the windows (not smart with 35 degrees outside) or you turn the vent, which is the same as opening the windows.
HVAC system components failure. 1) blend doors plastic motor stop broke rendering them useless. No heat in passenger compartment. 2) recirc door broke falling on top of the fan rendering the defroster useless. Unable to run defroster creating a serious safety issue.
Window regulator on drivers side power window has broken twice! both times no warranty covered it, although the parts repaired were Jeep parts, brand new.
Ventilation system in your Grand Cherokee making noise, blowing cold air, or just not functioning properly? defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower.
The regulator on 3 of the 4 windows have gone out, have them repaired at $400 per window. The engine fan will not turn off after stopping, unless I pull out the fuse under the hood, have had this repaired 2 times at an expense of $400 each time. Car has 75,000 miles and is a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.
I was rolling down my automatic window in my 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it made a loud sound and will not roll back up. This is the second time this has occurred. From research online this seems to be a huge problem among owners of the same make/model.
1. nothing I did besides driving this Jeep. 2. everyday 24/7 3. nothing has been done to fix this problem because I cant afford it. 2003 Jeep blend door issue, live in Oregon and with no defrost and only vehicle I can drive at the moment is very dangerous. It get really cold here and snows throughout the winter. Dangerous and freezing cold...
The heater in my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland has failed due to a known defect in the temperature blender door that prevents heat from getting redirected onto the windshield to defrost the glass. Chrysler has to my knowledge not issued a voluntary recall to fix this problem. This is a serious safety issue here in Montana where we need to be able to see in winter weather. I was nearly in an accident this morning with my 6-year old son in the car due to the windshield freezing up and my not being able clear the glass. Please, please, please issue a recall notice to force Chrysler to fix this known problem. I am sure there are many other Jeep owners who have filed similar complaints. This is a safety issue just as important as the seat-heater recall for the same model. Thank you. Bill haynes
