Was at the Walmart in the parking lot. Started the Jeep and saw a “check gauge” warning on the dash. Looked close and saw the oil pressure garage reading zero. Immediately shut the engine off. Checked the dip stick. Lots of oil. Looked under the Jeep. No oil dripping or puddles. Started it again and waited. No nasty sounds. Drove slowly to my next stop and checked fuses. Still not home so wondered if I should drive slowly in traffic or fast on the freeway. Chose the far right lane on the freeway to the next exit and home.

I checked online and found that the oil sensor on these Jeep’s can fail. Didn’t want to drive the vehicle to get the part so I bicycled over to a parts outlet 30 minutes away. $63.00 for the sensor but found out after end of business that day it needs a special deep socket to fit. Had a friend buy one and drop it off the next day. Fours hours under the Jeep messing with the stupid security locking tap on the connector which eventually broke. Found out at that time the socket I bought doesn’t fit the old sensor. It needed a 27mm deep socket which I fortunately had. What a pain in the ass to replace.

This Jeep has been nothing but trouble but after being stuck in the US two years ago and paying for a new transmission and a starter, I’m into it for more than it is worth. Sooner or later it will throw me a problem that will be terminal. Hopefully it won’t nickel and dime me too much before that end date.
