The 2001 Jeep just came to a stop while it was being driven on the highway. It had always had engine issues. The front wheel suspension on the passenger side of the 2001 Jeep Cherokee Laredo is bent and while driving it on the street or highway it causes the vehicle to pull to the left and is unstable when driving it on a highway or street. The engine has a knocking sound whenever it is running. The brakes to the vehicle has been slipping and making a grinding noise while driving it. Sometimes the Jeep doesn't want to drive over 70 mph when driving in the highway or street. We have had to replace the brakes because they started smoking while driving on the highway. There is electrical issues with the car as well where the radio doesn't play as well as other electrical parts don't work. My 2001 Jeep has stopped while my husband was driving it on the highway and it is not drivable. I have had to replace the ignition coil and spark plugs many times for many years. There has always been a water leak on the passenger side dripping whenever the car is in motion, coming from the dashboard onto the carpet since the car was purchased. There may be other issues with the 2001 Jeep that I have missed.

When driving at 45 to 50 mph the front end starts to vibriate and starts to shake uncontrollably, what's really bad is that you don't know when it will happen.I drove from savannah to Michigan and back with no problems than when you least expect it than it happens ! it shakes so bad you can't drive so you have to pull off the road and stop and it seems to go away but it may return after another one or two thousand miles. I have brought to shops and have replaced front end parts, brakes, tires etc. They can't find the problem.I have read that it's a disign flaw with the coil springs being in a bad position. Google Jeep death wobble.you will find. I won't sell the car because I wouldnt want to put someone in danger.

Extreme wobble in front end happens when there is a bump in the road. Happens at various speeds. Violent front wheel wobble. Spent $1600 in repairs and $600 on new tires. The issue is still there. I talked to a man today with a Jeep the same model and year as mine and he has had the same problem. I was following him at 45mph and his right front wheel started the wobble and he pulled off the road and I stopped and talked to him about it.

My Jeep is doing several things that is cause for not driving it because it can cause a accident. It does not always just start. I have to move the steering wheel up & down ^ then it will start generally. When driving the Jeep will rev up all of a sudden especially at stop signs. If I didn't have my foot on the brakes I could have caused a accident. Also I would have to keep my foot on the gas or it would die on me. These things have been going on for the last 2-3 months.when I put my Jeep in reverse or in drive it makes a major clunking noise like my transmission is ready to fall out. This clunking noise started when all of the other problems started! I have emailed several websites & have not received a response to my problem!! help!!!

1-I bought the Jeep 4/2008. A couple of months after, a window stopped working. I got the regulator fixed. Soon after that, another window stopped. I got that one fixed. Every time I get one fixed another breaks. Now I have 2 windows not working. 2-whenever I turn a corner, it sounds like the wheels are scraping against something. 3-soon after I bought the Jeep, whenever it gets wet and I turn corners, there is a sound coming the front like its the axle or something. I have taken it to several people/dealers and no one can find out why. They test drive it and hear it, look underneath and still cant find out why or where the sound is coming from.

The consumer had the vehicle in the shop almost 10 times for repairs. The consumer argued that the power steering was out of order and she was unable to steer the vehicle in reverse. The vehicle had experienced other problems such as the drive pinion, heating pads, brake rotors, calipers, pads, power steering pump, the rear shock absorbers and rear sway bar links. The dealer was contacted about the problems no help was offered. It had appeared that there had been a recall issued for the Grand Cherokee built only from Nov 22- Dec 5 2000 for the power steering and the consumer missed it by a month, but the vehicle experienced the same problem as the recall that was issued. The consumer was very dissatisfied with the dealership. The vehicle also experienced three tire blowouts. The consumer was told the problem was caused by the gear box, there was a recall regarding the issue, however the consumers vehicle was not included in the recall. The front pinion seal leaked.
