This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Driving home early morning during a snowstorm, a snowplow went through a stop sign and my vehicle hit him dead center totaling my vehicle. Even though this was a frontal collision neither the driver's or passenger's air bags deployed resulting in injury to the driver.
Nothing leading up tp this issue... about 150000 miles on it when it started. Airbag light and alarm go on and off randomly ( 1-2 times per minute) while driving. Dealer says replace entire airbag for more than $2000. Are they kidding?
The contact owns a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While making a left turn the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the steering wheel clock spring was replaced. The failure mileage was 72,000. The current mileage was 102,169.
I own a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 170,000 miles. Recently, the airbag warning light will ding and light-up. The light will then turn off after a few seconds and then may relight again. This problem has been occurring for the past few weeks. I have not yet tried to correct the failure because the problem may not happen for a few days and then start again.

I and numerous others it seems (see www.topix.com/forum/autos/Jeep-grand-Cherokee/T92ek7li3qqu98eco ) own Jeep Grand Cherokee with comparable mileage at over 100,000 (my vehicle is at 134,000 miles), which are experiencing a mechanical problem involving the airbag light which comes on constantly when the engine is running in conjunction with a "chime" sound. With the widespread occurrence of this problem, many of us are wondering why Chrysler hasn't issued a recall. Also of concern is whether or not the airbag could possibly deploy unexpectedly or fail to deploy as a result of whatever problem is causing the light to come on (many have reported that it turned out to be the airbag clockspring). Could you please investigate this matter or at least tell me what other action I might take to force the manufacturer to initiate a recall. Thank you for your time and help in this matter. Driving 60 mph on highway 242 (posted speed limit) a car pulled out from a stop sign into my path. I applied brakes and impacted him on his passenger door area (speed approximately 50mph). My airbags did not deploy and I received back and knee injuries that are still a problem today.
The consumer was involved in an accident and neither of the frontal air bags deployed. The driver was injured and was out of work from May 2 to July 19. The driver still has pain in her neck and leg. Her left arm and lower back were also sprained. The passenger has bruise chest and breast.
I was driven off the highway by a snow plow. I was driving more than 40 miles per hour and I struck a tree head on. The complaint results from the fact the driver's side air bag on my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee did not deploy. Although Jeep conducted an inspection of the vehicle, they refused to acknowledge there was a failure.
Consumer was driving at 30 mph when another vehicle made an attempt to make a U-turn. Consumer tried to avoid hitting other driver by veering to the left, however consumer hit the other driver head on. Consumer was wearing seatbelt but, the airbags did not deploy.
My Jeep was hit by other car @ 50-60mph-partial frontal hit. Jeep knocked back 10'. I broke ribs & permanent knee damage & pulmonary embolis. Partial frontal hit! other car on my side of street!driver air bag didn't deploy!
I was involved in a crash where the front end of my vehicle impacted the side of another vehicle at appx 40 mph. The seatbelts worked but neither of the front air bags deployed in the crash.
Sudden acceleration upon backing into a poll, engine commenced to accelerate out of control with both foots on brake and shifted into park. Vehicle was force into a concrete wall at 35 mph. Also, both air bags did not deploy. Manufacturer notified and informed of a representative would be sent out to inspect vehicle. Please feel free to provide any further details on this matter.
I repeatedly took vehicle to dealership for service, on all visits they told me there were no problems at all, and car was safe, well, brakes failed and I hit a truck, and airbags didn't come out. I could have died if I was on the highway and they failed.
In a front end collision driver's/passenger's air bags did not deploy. Vehicle hit a tree at 60mph, and smashed front end of vehicle to point where front doors could barely open.
