I was driving my kids to school and heard a strange scraping sound, when I got home I looked under the car and the gas tank was literally falling off the car. The skidplate/support was rotted away and only the back portion of it was holding the gas tank up. Could have been a major problem if I didn't notice the scraping sound and check before I drove it anymore.

Vehicle randomly stalls and dies at low to moderate speeds. Engine will shudder briefly and shutoff. Stalling will occur when stopped or speeds ranging from 1 to 40 mph. When vehicle stalls, electrical system will reset and power steering fails. Restart is sometimes achievable immediately, but more often takes a minimum of 30 seconds and up to several minutes. Issue seems unaffected by outside temperature or other environmental factors. Engine failure often occurs within the first 15 minutes of driving, but has occurred at greater time intervals. Spark plugs, spark plug wires, ignition rotor, and upstream oxygen sensor have been replaced, but problem persists. This has caused near accidents on multiple occasions. This issue is persistent and ongoing.

Fuel/propulsion: The vehicle will run after starting for 5-8 minutes then the RPM's drop to 300 and acts like its going to stall; then.the car begins bucking, jerking, and revving up. There are loud clunks from the engine compartments. I have replaced the cam & crankshaft sensors, throttle position sensor and no change yet. Next I am going to replace the fuel pump, filter, the fuel line between them. Air bags: The airbag light goes on and off. The only fix I have read about is the clock spring...talk about money pit!! brakes: Yes. Front brakes have locked up and caused issues. Discs and calipers have been replaced. Also, driver's side break light is not functional. The tail lights work, but once the brake is depressed, the right and top lights work, but the driver's light is off. And just for fun...I've had to replace both side mirrors due to internal springs failing as well as both front window regulators and motors. When I went to autozone to get parts, they correct window regulator was under the 2000 model year; 1999 did not fit. We are gonna get rid of this Jeep...Chrysler needs a lesson in taking responsibility. We'll buy a Toyota.
