The contact owns a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalls without warning. Upon further inspection, the contact concluded that the fuel pump and regulator were the causes of the failure. The vehicle has not been repaired. The dealer stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 06E011000 (fuel system, gasoline:delivery:fuel pump); therefore, they would not assume responsibility for any repairs. The failure and current mileages were 102,000.
: the contact stated while driving 55 mph the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was maneuvered off the road and towed to an independent repair shop who determined the gas sending unit was inoperable. There was a NHTSA recall, # 97V194002, regarding the fuel level sending unit. The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the VIN. Updated 11/03/06.
This particular vehicle has failure of fuel pump inside of fuel tank. Also, there is about two or more sensors that failed in the system that provides a proper delivery of electric impulse to the spark plugs.***** dims 11 IVOQ entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis****749795.
While traveling at 35-40 mph and exting highway engine stalled without any indication. Technician stated fuel pump needed to be replaced. The stalling problem becomes more dangerous when driving on highway.

9/23/98 dealership: Jeep Eagle dupage (630) 653-4060 invoice number: 150281 mileage: 5721 days out of service: 1 engine cuts out when accelerating or turning when fuel tank is 1/8 full or less. The solution: Replaced fuel pump assembly. 11/3/98
