The contact owns a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the front driver side door popped open while the vehicle was in motion. The contact stated that the latch failed to close the door. The contact stated that it did not look like the latch was fractured, but it would not hold. In addition, the contact stated that the heat would only blow through the vents on the top of the dashboard and not the floor or other vents. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN and failure mileage were unavailable.
The driver's door failed on my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, meaning that metal fatigue and nothing more than metal fatigue caused the metal containing the door latch bold mechanism to literally deteriorate and the door had to be replaced. Daimler-Chrysler refused to acknowledge or pay for the defect.
