This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Jeep required plastic gas tank to be replaced in order to warantee 600 dollar new fuel pump. Bill to replace fuel pump and gas tank was 1300 with labor. This is not right. If gas tank is failing due to gas additives this should be recall/replacement by Jeep. This car has been well maintained.
I understand that earlier model years have a recall or something similar becasue of a coating used on the inside of the gas tank that gets eaten away over time by an additive in the gas that is used in the North. This lining then clogs the pump and filter causing failure. The cost of parts and labor endied up being over 800 dollars. If this is a known problem why isn't it taken care of?
