The fuel pump has been replaced four times and it has failed again and willbe towed to the dealers tomorrow 11/3/00. The dealer has told us it will cost us $900 to replace it again. Please let us know what recourse we should proceed with.
Sending unit of fuel system fails now when fuel reaches 1/4 of tank; Jeep dealer is aware of the problem; a number of instances have been reported; Chrysler however has not issued a recall. NHTSA has issued a recall on 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee for this exact same problem. Recall should extend over to 1996 models as well.
Replaced 4 fuel pumps in 5 weeks. Occurs after parking and leaving vehicle. Won't restart after parking. Told I need to replace gas tank. Problem got increasingly worse. 1st replacement-3 weeks, 2nd-6 days, 3rd-4 days.

Consumers car fuel pump failed and consumer was unable to start car fuel had leaked. To to dealer and they replaced pump and it broke again. Dlr told consumer would need to replace the whole fuel tank.
