I was just researching my issue and found this site. Haven't really dug into anything yet, but I'll post my experience in the hopes it narrowed down a solution to this issue.
Went to Reno with my wife. On the way there, while drive some of the awesome (/s) California back county highways, I drifted over the center line on a curve. Now, in that area, they decided to add a rumble strip like feature to the center line. Unlike the rumble strips I'm used to, these ones are more like a series of potholes along either side of the line. Well, I hit these holes and got the death wobble. Never experienced it before, so slammed on the brakes and checked for a flat, then checked for broken suspension. Didn't see nothing, and with a prayer, got back on the road. Issue didn't re-occur until the return trip. Same section of highway, hit the strip again, and got the death wobble twice more. The second time, I slowed down a bit more gradually. The wobble went away after I dropped below 20mph or so.
Still haven't had time to dig into my front end at all, but I think I do have a small comment on the issue. It feels like something is over correcting for the sudden load on the suspension. I have to wonder if there is a location somewhere where a spring or hydraulic dampener could be installed to absorb some of the energy and allow the system to return to equilibrium.
