I was given my 1993 Grand Cherokee Limited, 5.2 liter by a friend, it only had 116k so I knew there was tons of life left in it. I was told it had a lot of electrical issues that it didn't want to run as well the trans was going out. Well being a mechanic and an Electronics Technician I knew this couldn't be too big of a deal for me to fix.
I got the schematics off the internet, a quick research to what has been posted on these problems. Found and unplugged the components that were blowing certain fuses, and bam, it started right up. The remote Sentry in the overhead console was shorting, the VIC (Vehicle Information Center) was shorting, and I didn't trust the Alarm, the Alarm module is behind and below to the left of the glovebox I unplugged and removed it, and I got the transmission rebuilt, 1 injector rebuilt, and it has been a fabulous vehicle since.
People give up on cars far too easy and most don't seem to know how to fix things, well if you spend a little time disconnect these components, use your keys not remotes and take this vehicle to where I personally like them better, back to kind of the old days and remove some of the stupid technology, they are great 4x4's.
I absolutely love my 1993 Grand Cherokee, recently bought a 2000 for my wife and I've read what ails those years, but hey I'll fix them when they arise as well. These Jeeps are great once you learn this stuff and since people give up on them so easily, they are everywhere for dirt cheap. I see so many I want to buy because they are easy fixes. Hope this helps someone.
