My 2020 Jeep Compass keeps happening, regardless of the engine temperature whether at operating temperature, hot or cold weather. The screen on the dash said “Coolant Temperature too High", the vehicle turned itself off and I immediately turned on my four ways. Although it says that, I look at the engine/coolant temperature gauge, and it says it is normal, in between the hot and cold. I don’t understand why it says it I kept pressing my brakes because cars kept pulling up behind me even semi trucks got so close I called 911 out of fear that they would hit me. I press the start/stop button to fully turn the vehicle off, press the brake again and press the start/stop button again to restart the vehicle. I kept trying to start the car many times because it didn’t immediately come back on. The car only restarted after 15 minutes while I was stuck inside the hot car with over 100 degrees outside. Sweating and feeling like I am about to pass out. The vehicle finally restarted after I sat in the hot car calling for police and insurance. After restarting, the vehicle ran normally, until the error message flashes again.
This issue occurs randomly when pulling out of the drive way after the vehicle has been sitting over night and when it is stopped at a stop light. When this happened to me after I got off work, the car behind me almost rear ended me, which is why I called police…When driving at highway speeds the vehicle will flash the same "Coolant Temperature Too High" message, act as if it wants to shut itself off, steering and braking don't work properly when this happens, and just one second later the vehicle returns to normal by itself. The vehicle has been into a Jeep dealership multiple times, on one occasion the auxiliary battery was replaced and that seemed to have solved the issue for half a year, but the same coolant temperature too high message keeps coming back. The vehicle wants to turn off while traveling at highway speeds or driving on the streets. Its a safety hazard. Can cause accidents.
