The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH and slowing for traffic, the contact lightly depressed the brake pedal, and the vehicle almost came to a complete stop. The contact stated that he observed that the brake service warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but was a recurring failure. Additionally, the contact stated that the parking brake had also stopped engaging and the "Service Electronic Parking Brake" illuminated and was constantly illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rear calipers and actuators and the electronic parking brake system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V523000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The failure mileage was 21,722.
