January 7 2020 Service Appointment *Downsview Chrysler
- Took Jeep to dealership - Complaint of a possible Transmission issue: (When slowing from 80KMH to 50KMH can hear and feel “Clunking / Thud†when the vehicle downshifts from 3rd gear to 2nd gear.)
Took a video of the Jeep slowing down and shifting gears. In the video you can distinctly hear the sound of my complaint. Sent two videos to the service employee (Name left out) will use (S/E) for reference. When I delivered my Jeep to the dealership and the S/E saw the videos he indicated that there is clearly an issue.
On this date I picked up my Jeep at the end of day, Spoke with the S/E who advised that after the test drive the tech informed him that there is an issue but the transmission would have to be removed to inspect further. However there are also system updates and reconfigurations that were required. Since the updates were just completed I would be required to re-book if the issue continues after these updates.
On the drive home I continued to experience the same issue as reported.
I contacted the S/E on the phone and he told me that the service department has 3 to 4 transmission jobs on the go, won’t be able to get to mine until early February… and to call closer to the date to book an appointment.
Update from Apr 24, 2020: February 4 2020 Service Appointment Downsview Chrysler
- Took Jeep to dealership - Complaint of a possible Transmission issue: (When slowing from 80KMH to 50KMH can hear and feel “Clunking / Thud†when the vehicle downshifts from 3rd gear to 2nd gear.)
From the last service date… I figured my Jeep would be in the shop for a few days… I inquired into the possibility of a loaner vehicle if my vehicle will be in the garage for an extended period of time. I was told that my warranty doesn’t cover any vehicle rental - if I had purchased an upgraded Warranty it would be included.
On this date I picked up my Jeep at the end of the day, Spoke with the S/E who advised that further system updates were required and that the transmission tech could not duplicate the issue.
For this the dealership charged me $192 stating that because my vehicle was out of the basic warranty (60,000KM / 3 Yrs) the powertrain warranty would not cover system updates…
The S/E also advised that Chrysler dealerships do not communicate with one another… so I will be required to pay this charge again.
February 20 2020 Service Appointment Downsview Chrysler- Took Jeep to dealership - Complaint of a possible Transmission issue: (When slowing from 80KMH to 50KMH can hear and feel “Clunking / Thud†when the vehicle downshifts from 3rd gear to 2nd gear.)
I received a voicemail message on my phone from the Service department @ Downsview Chrysler (Msg saved) stating that the Transmission Tech and Service Tech took the vehicle out for a test drive and could not find the issue that they did experience before…
I was advised by the S/E that my concern for the vehicle making noise was heard by the dealership service tech’s and indicated that it is a valid issue... however nothing was done to correct it.
I picked up my Jeep at the end of the day, Spoke with the S/E who advised that shifter module updates were required and completed at that time.
My receipt (Work order) indicated that I saved $129.46 for this appointment… that my warranty covered this cost… (Don’t understand this warranty now…, and I also don’t understand how my transmission needs updates every few weeks…)
March 3 2020 Email was sent to the S/E with videos of the complaint sound on the following dates: - February 21st - March 1st The S/E advised that he showed the videos again to his manager who informed me to bring my Jeep into the dealership for another look into the issue. March 16 2020 Service Appointment *Downsview Chrysler- Took Jeep to dealership - Complaint of a possible Transmission issue: (When slowing from 80KMH to 50KMH can hear and feel “Clunking / Thud†when the vehicle downshifts from 3rd gear to 2nd gear.)
On this date I was almost turned away as this was the initial stages of business closures due to the COVID - 19 Pandemic…. I was advised that if the dealership closed I would not get my vehicle back…
The dealership took my Jeep, When I picked it up I was informed that the service manager took it out for a test drive and could not duplicate the issue. The service manager advised that no faults were found at this time.
My vehicle is now Just over the (100,000 KM / 5 Yrs) powertrain warranty….
