The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and approaching a stop light, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the oil pressure warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The contact later noticed that the oil and coolant levels were low. The contact stated that he topped off the oil and refilled the coolant reservoir; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact topped off the oil and the coolant reservoir for a second time. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 52,000.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while his wife was merging onto the highway at approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that his wife stopped depressing the accelerator pedal and the vehicle restarted. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact's wife was able to safely exit the highway however, the vehicle would not accelerate properly and exceeded 30 MPH. The contact's wife drove to an auto parts store and added two quarts of oil to the engine. The vehicle began to operate correctly. The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed but no failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired and the contact's wife continued to use the vehicle. The failure recurred while the contact's wife was driving approximately 30 MPH. The vehicle stalled and the contact's wife was rear-ended. There was minimal damage to the rear bumper. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was returned to the same dealer and an oil consumption test was performed and it was determined that the oil consumption was normal. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was still consuming oil. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
