I bought a, brand new, 2018 Jeep Compass Limited. There has been an intermittent engine noise that I've heard in the car since I took ownership. The first time that I took it in, they claimed the car needed a software update. I picked up the car and the issue seemed to be fixed, however, the noise returned and I have had the car in to the dealer a few times for oil changes and also to address the problem. I've had an emergency brake cable replaced, a door latch replaced and nothing that the jeep dealer has done seems to fix the noise. Why any of these things would go bad on a new car doesn't leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling, either. I even had one of Jeep's representatives to call me to see how I liked the service that they provided and I told the person that I'm not satisfied because the car still sounds like the engine is dragging or downshifting. The Jeep representative had the nerve to tell me that he has a 2019 Jeep Compass and his does the same thing, and that he's heard the noise on the Jeep Renegade etc. He told me that he doesn't think it's an issue, and that he would do some double checking and get back to me. I have not heard from the representative as of this writing, and it's been at least a week. There is something wrong with that engine because I cannot believe that an engine would be designed to include a drag/downshift sound on a brand new car. How embarrassing is that if you have passengers. Any feedback would be welcomed because clearly Jeep is of no help.
