I was driving my 2018 jeep compass with my 5 month old, my car slowed down to a complete stop and said put in park while I-??m driving, the D on the shift control kept blinking. As I put it in park in the middle of the road it still didn-??t work, so I shut my car off and tried to restart it, it did nothing and then randomly started on its own 2 minutes later, after driving it, it happened again! I almost got in 2 car accidents in less then 20 min as I can not move it to the side of the road it just stops on me. This has happened once more the day after! No one can explain what my car is doing. But I-??m afraid to drive it, and scared I-??ll get in an accident or cause one because it-??s already happened 3 times!
I have been having electrical issues with my vehicle for a while. I took it to get it checked at multiple places. I have been told about certain electrical issues the Jeep Compass has. i been told my starter, batteries, and/or alternator was or were the problems. i have replaced both of my batteries. One in which I replaced two times. I have also replaced my alternator and purchased a starter just in case that was the issue turns out the alternator wasn-??t the issues. Now my vehicle isn-??t cranking. I-??m not sure if any of the safety recalls were fixed.
2018 Jeep Compass Limited has the OEM Bi-Xenon option equipped. The issue is with both headlights operating intermittently. It does not matter what position the headlight switch is in (Auto, On) they continue to alternate turning on and off. Sometimes one will come on and the other will be extremely delayed (15-20 minutes), sometimes both are delayed, and sometimes they do not come on at all. Shutting off and restarting the engine power does not help. The issue seems sometimes is worse if stopping for, at night, errands where the headlights then will not turn on at all. Later, next day, the whole issue starts again. This is a very serious issue.
Intermittent issue occurs where my radio screen looses power or displays code error please restart system, blinkers stop working, thermometer on display shows 2 dashes, climate controls stop working, hazards won-??t work, directional buttons on steering wheel and ok button do not work to change display on dash. all of these happen at same time intermittently
Car went in for recall on start/stop issue a few months ago. Recently wife parked the car and turned it off. Several minutes later went to turn it on again and it was dead. Engine would not start and electronics did not work. Could not even put car in neutral to have towed. Had to get new aux. battery and unhook neutral on main battery just to get into neutral to be able to tow. Dealership in Mt. Airy, NC is now trying to say we caused issues by hooking up battery incorrectly which is untrue since the issue happened before anyone messed with the battery.

My jeep has died 3 different times in traffic. Once at full highway speeds, once in a intersections, etc. All with my minor child involved. They have "serviced" My vehicle 2 timed already and returned it with the same dangerous issue. They are saying they fulfilled the recall because they replaced a part, yet the issue persists. Last time I checked, fixed things work properly. Please force them to fix or replace my jeep before myself or my child dies.
Car is intermittently stalling, power steering intermittently failing and all service lights come on at one time, took to a non Jeep dealership they diagnosed as a TIPM failure and told me to take it to a Jeep dealership, took to two Jeep dealerships and they said since the issue wasn-??t happening while the vehicle is in their care there-??s nothing they can do about it.
It states Coolant Temperature is to High, Car stops when driving, car wont start at times, Check engine light never goes on, mechanic has no idea what the issue is considering when driven. The teperature is normal.
My 2018 Jeep Compass engine started locking up randomly in 2019. It would take about 15 minutes for the car to reset and start again. I started to notice it would happen more often in hot temperatures. The Jeep Dealer said they could not help unless they could recreate the problem, but it never happened at the dealership. This summer it started to happen more as the temperature went up more. I was stuck in traffic three times this year, 2 times last year. I have been approached by cops several times due to this problem. I was able to get it fixed this summer because it got stuck long enough for a mechanic to see the issue. Putting in a new starter fixed the problem. The Auto Start/Stop Feature seems to be wearing out the starter faster. I deactivate the auto start/stop feature whenever I drive to keep from wearing down the starter. This is similar issue to the following report NHTSA Report IDs: 11540220, 11540593, 11540475, 11539629, 11536381
ABS anti lock break system The first time it happened, I was slowing down at a stop light, and then starting back up the car stalled and would not move It had to be turned off and on in the middle of an intersection A car from behind had to skid and almost crashed into me Another time I was turning onto a major. road and it suddenly stalled once again almost got rear ended This happened a series of times, and was taken into a local mechanic each time, in which case they said it was the wheel sensors and replaced each one Both independent and Jeep dealership reproduced and confirmed the issue No warning lights prior to the first issue. Every time the car was taken into mechanic the warning lights were cleared for @ 30 days Each time the warning lights came on the car would simultaneously stall again
This isn-??t the first time it happened, I was about to make a right turn at an intersection and the car suddenly stalled with emergency brake engaged and the funny part is that the car wouldn-??t turn off. This car is garbage and it-??s drink oil like a monster
When vehicle in park mode it will not start. Seems to be an issue with Start/Stop system. Must place in neutral to start car. Auxiliary and main battery replaced. Seems to be bringing auxiliary battery down
I purchased a 2018 Jeep Compass 4 months ago with around 52,000 miles. The first month went smooth but going into the second month it began having system problems. The Jeep would stall out and turn off in my job parking lot, traffic, and the drive thru line. Seems as if the auto start/stop system would cause the Jeep to shut off so I would always try to disable it after starting the Jeep up. The entire dashboard and display would just flicker and turn off but I could still hear the radio. The windows would lock themselves when I would try to roll them down due to the heat from the hot weather. I would have to keep jumping the battery numerous times even after changing the aux battery. The Jeep would drive perfectly for a few days and then go right back to not starting up and the lights flickering.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 83,348.
Latest incident (7/21/23) resulted in check engine light code: P1DD2 - -??Torque Request Signal from TCM denied-??. Check engine light came on - Jeep felt like it was going to stall. For several months now, I-??ve had intermittent issues with the Jeep -??shifting-?? on its own while driving without me touching the shifter. I then get an alert that I can-??t change gears while driving & I have to pull over to try to resolve the issue. This has happened to me several times but when I-??ve reported it, the mechanic / Jeep dealer couldn-??t make the issue happen again. In addition, since owning this Jeep, the most I can drive is 3000 miles before needing an oil change. My oil is being -??burned through-??. Most recently I didn-??t even make it 1000 miles after an oil change without losing atleast 2-3 quarts of oil. Not sure why this is happening as I should be able to go between 5k-6k miles between oil changes.
Stop/Start system We took the car to get it checked out within the first month due to hard shift and for warning light. We were told the warning light for stop/start was on because it needed an update. It came back on within a few months. Then our car battery had died, changed it out, and within maybe 6 months the new one died. We changed out both batteries this last time, and the within a week the stop/start warning came back on. Now it comes on and off sporadically for the last month. So we are clueless about this stop/start and what to do about it.
